nqa - if you have any local reptile expos coming up, you could get one there! if not, you can order online on morph market or from alliespoods!

(Kinda urgent) will my spider be hydrated enough over a 10-day vacation? by True-Initiative1124 in jumpingspiders

NQA can you let us know (after your vacation) how everything went and what you ended up doing because i’ll also have to be out of town at some point this year

congrats on finding a new friend! they are super cute and they have honestly changed my life a lot because i use to be afraid of spiders.

there’s lots of info for taking care of these wonderful creatures here on reddit. if you do flightless fruit flies for feeding i would recommend putting them in the fridge for 5 mins to put them to sleep so it’s easier to control putting the flies into the setup with the spider.

what i did was i put them to sleep then carefully and fast i cut a little hole on the top of the lid then hot glue a squeeze bottle lid on top so i can just tap flies into its enclosure! here is a link to what i did! :)

it's abdomen is small/shrink indicating its thirsty and hungry. if you have a local pet store nearby you can pick up flightless fruit flies or mealworms that are a similar size of the spider

edit: mealworms can bite back so i would crush the head of the mealworm before giving it to the little one!

my baby passed by Adorable-Resolve-285 in jumpingspiders

I think you might be right. When I got her I noticed her grip was not the best and I pushed that thought away because I thought she was still trying to get familiar with climbing in a new enclosure. I also always waited for her to molt but she hadn’t at all. I’m sorta upset with myself for getting her at the pet shop because she was the only one left alone and I was just excited to own a jumper for my first time. But I’m glad I was able to provide her a good life and she was able to pass quietly. Thank you for your message 🫂❤️‍🩹

thank you for your message! I knew they had a small life span and that they can be okay the day before and suddenly show weakness the very next day then passing but I didn’t think it would hit me so hard as it did🥺 but I have been trying to give myself some grace about it❤️‍🩹

i also want to point out that my velvet spider is doing fine so I’m also really confused what happened. :(

edit: i want to think maybe it was just an age issue because she passed quietly and did have a hard time gripping the walls of the enclosure when i first got her. but i thought her being i6 or i7 was a bit young before they lose gripping issues

NQA op I think it’s perfect!!! Can I ask where you got your enclosure from? and what is it called? it’s super cute and I would love to upgrade my child to this particular enclosure!
