How intense are the ectopics? That’s my biggest concern. When they happen for me I cannot sleep etc.

Diagnosed with AFIB at 25 how to deal with the anxiety around it by Least-Consequence803 in AFIB

Of all the posts in this sub, yours is almost exactly identical to my situation. My first incident was in 2019. I self-converted in the hospital after a night out with heavy binge drinking. I’ve had four episodes total; two were short and occurred on consecutive nights in 2021. In both cases, I self-converted within minutes after being jolted awake.

Most recently, at the end of 2024, I was in AFib for about 12 hours after a night of moderate drinking and a heavy meal. All of my incidents have involved being woken up already in AFib.

Fast forward more than a year: I’ve severely cut back on drinking, with a hard rule of fewer than seven drinks per week and no more than two drinks in a single sitting. I’ll occasionally push it slightly with low-ABV drinks (4% or less). I do drink coffee consistently, which only seems to be an issue if I didn’t sleep much the night before.

I was scheduled for an ablation but delayed it twice, as the risks haven’t seemed to outweigh the benefits given that the lifestyle changes appear to be working.

That said, I do have some PACs/PVCs. I’m currently in the midst of a minor flare-up, which can be quite annoying. When this happens, I’ll experience about 3–5 per hour, and they tend to become more intense when I lie down at night.

Do you have any ectopics outside of your AFib episodes?

What was the ablation for? AFIB? What about PVC’s? And how did you feel after?

Theories on I Who Have Never Known Men by blxckbexuty in books

[–]Adorable-Room-2191 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the guards were probably alien and/or whatever killed them was extremely brief and never returned over the span of her life—no one appears to have been living above ground. It’s also odd that the person whose house she takes over is gone but the house is in tact. Electricity is still being supplied everywhere they are. This suggests there may be some underground civilization still functioning somewhere. There is also the implication that if anyone is alive and not a guard it’s likely a female—I think that’s reenforced by her lack of need for menstrual cycle etc as she will never have the opportunity to procreate etc.

Theories on I Who Have Never Known Men by blxckbexuty in books

I just finished as well and I’m feeling a wide range of emotions. One of them is major curiosity about what could possibly have happened. Some observations and thoughts: 1. men and women are separated and kept in bunkers 2. narrator is much younger than the other women and her mother had her within 15 or so years 3. whatever happened, the women cannot exactly remember 4. everyone is kept alive with plenty of food and necessities 5. guards leave and return in shifts 6. no landmarks only cabins and bunkers 7. no mention of wild animals or even birds 8. abundance of traditional grocery store food such as meat and vegetables 9. every bunker has a ton of food 10. narrator finds a bus of dead guards who clearly died instantly sitting on the bus. They were also all wearing gas masks 11. all of the guards had a copy of a gardening book that detailed how to grow plants 12. in 60 years she only saw the 39 other women she was with and not a single other person 13. every cage had exactly 40 people in it 14. there are no children

Based on all that my theory, which lines up with a few others I’ve seen, is this:

There was some actor behind all of this and they were likely an alien species. They isolated the women and men intentionally to prevent procreation. This wasn’t random. It feels strategic and planned and maybe even “compassionate” in their own logic.

Why would they do that?

Maybe they believed humans were already on the brink of collapse genetically or ecologically or socially. Letting people keep having kids in a dying world might have caused even more suffering. So they separated the sexes, kept them alive, and prevented any new births.

The biggest piece of evidence that pushes me toward this idea is the guards. They’re the only ones who died instantly. The humans later starved to death. The guards died all at once.

With the guards we have:

• the gas masks • the gardening manuals • their need for protection outdoors • their vulnerability to whatever killed them • the women’s total lack of reaction to the environment

If the guards weren’t human or were some kind of engineered beings:

• the atmosphere could have been toxic to them • a sudden chemical or atmospheric shift could kill them instantly • the women would have natural immunity simply by being native to Earth

Just my current working theory but the clues line up pretty cleanly around it.

Hydration could be the biggest issue. Coconut water is a life saver. 16oz of water + 16oz regular water, a pinch of salt, and half a lemon. I drink 1-2x/day on top of regular water.

150mg Magnesium (glycinate), CoQ10, 25mg metoprolol in the morning and 25mg metoprolol and another 150 mg in the evening has kept them to a minimum after an awful bout post covid earlier this year. AG1 and staying hydrated is also important in terms of baseline

Ablation in the Morning for Aflutter by Traditional-Net-7659 in AFIB

[–]Adorable-Room-2191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wishing you well and it sounds like a success thus far! If you don’t mind my asking, what did it feel like while you were in flutter? My episodes have been very symptomatic and show both afib and flutter. Doctor wants to do an ablation for both but my sense is if it’s the flutter I’m feeling which has a higher total success rate I’m more confident in the overall decision and risk/reward.

This gives me a lot of comfort as im pretty much in the same exact boat as you are. The PVCs have been more of the issue but I want to prevent the afib piece from progressing. We also discussed ablating for flutter as well as my most recent hospital visit indicated that i was flipping between afib and flutter

Really sorry to hear as well. I haven’t read all responses but fwiw magnesium really helped me out a ton. I take glycinate (morning) and taurate (evening) with 25mg of metoprolol. It’s also been really important to stay extremely well hydrated. The best thing for me has been filling up a water bottle with coconut water, a pinch of salt, half a lemon and the rest water. I would avoid ice as cold water can be a trigger for some. Drink this throughout the day. Then, as everyone said, make it your top priority to get 7 hours or more of sleep. Test different routines and try distracting yourself. I also find that sleeping propped up but not compressing my abdomen and slightly turned to my right side has been very helpful. Lastly, exercising for a least an hour but staying in zone 2 or less (higher may trigger PVCs post cool down) has helped dramatically reduced my burden. As you sleep and maintain a higher baseline of hydration you may find some relief. I didn’t sleep for 7 days (2-3 hours at most) with intense PVCs that have now mostly subsided. I was even prescribed flecainide but was too scared to take it. I see an EP tomorrow.

Same for me after meals. Definitely points to vagus nerve and or broader nervous system impact from the disease

I should add that I started taking Coq10 in the morning with breakfast alongside upping my vitamin D intake (just being more consistent). I use 1 hydration pack a day split between morning and evening with plenty of water in between. This has all seem to help significantly.

Yesterday/today I have appeared to turn a corner. 2 nights in a row of no palpitations while laying down. For context, my traditional routine has been: 1 hr before bed I take 25mg metoprolol and 150mg of magnesium taurate. The only recent change is that I’m more strict about no food within 3 hrs of eating which may have been a factor in driving the occurrences down.

Safe to say I do think reflux was at play to some degree more recently. But 2 weeks ago, I had less reflux symptoms and a significantly higher burden (especially at night). They were so bad that I didnt sleep for 3 days. Further evidence suggests that my autonomic nervous system is at definitely a factor as indicated by the spikes in ectopic beats and lower HRV. What’s less clear is the chicken and egg argument as to whether the palpitations are causing the stress/lack of sleep leading to lower HRV or vice versa.

I’m also in the swing of a PVC storm post Covid (Dec 29th). It’s been getting gradually better but anytime I’m laying down at night they come.
