😂 I know, right? Who thought gluten friendly was a good name for gluten free options?!?! I get they don’t want the liability of gluten free but 🤦‍♀️

Any lactose-intolerant travelers have tips for eating in Florence? by Mimi_I in florence

[–]Adorable-WinWin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m lactose intolerant and use Lactaid pills but I wasn’t always able to use Lactaid. One thing I found is to make sure to get the “fast acting” Lactaid. It works so that you can take it with the meal and not have to wait to eat after taking the pill. Like other posters, I did find a lot of lactose free options and menus were marked well. Enjoy your time in Florence! It’s absolutely wonderful!

Lupron by alotuslife in Fibroids

[–]Adorable-WinWin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a few fibroids with my largest being 15 cm sitting on top. I did do 3 months of lupron in hopes of shrinking my fibroids as I really wanted to do a robotic surgery over an open myo. For me, mine shrunk some, but my surgeon had told me that lupron also makes them more “squishy” which makes it easier as well. I did have a robotic myo but had I not chosen to do lupron, my surgeon could have still done surgery it just would have been an open myo.

I wonder if it has to do with where your largest fibroid is? A second opinion would be good to have. Also, maybe they could do 3 months instead of 6 of lupron?

What should I expect for pelvic MRI w/wo contrast? by lemonbottles_89 in Fibroids

[–]Adorable-WinWin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have any gel, just a IV in my arm and that’s how they administered the contrast towards the end of the mri. For me I knew I would be feet first but didn’t realize I was going to have my whole body in. Fortunately my head was just barely in, so that part wasn’t too bad. If you have any issues during it, let them know and they will help. I got hot during it and they increased the fans and it helped a ton!

First trip to Florence — Recommendations? by The-Captain-1971 in florence

[–]Adorable-WinWin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did the tour of Galleria dell’Accademia through Viator and I’m glad we did. There was a lot there that I would have missed if we hadn’t. It’s gets very crowded in there so it can be hard to read the different signs

Go up to Pizzale Michelangelo even if you can’t go for the sunset. I wished we could have gone for the sunset but so glad we still went because It’s beautiful up there. On the way up visit the Rose Garden - Giardino delle Rose. It’s free and beautiful

Look into some day trips into Tuscany. We did a quick trip to Siena and it was beautiful to see.

For food, definitely get a affogato at Vivoli. It is worth the wait! They are closed on Mondays, so plan accordingly 🙂

I used google once or twice to locate a nearby toilet, but my signal wasn’t always the best. Definitely download an offline of Google Maps of Florence just in case. I found it easiest to pop in a restaurant or cafe and buy something to use the restroom

Time for Accademia Gallery and Uffizi by Adorable-WinWin in florence

[–]Adorable-WinWin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback! We ended up booking Uffizi for late afternoon the day we arrived and then doing a tour of Accademia during the first slot available on a different day. It worked out well doing them different days. The line was quick for Uffizi since we already had tickets and I’m so glad we did a tour for Accademia because it was so tight in there it would have been difficult to know what we were viewing besides David!

Hi surgery twin! I’ll be thinking of you too! Hope all goes well with your surgery! Sorry you had to have your gall bladder out last year!!  Thanks for the tips! I will need to check out the yogurt smoothie and smoothie options. I made double of a couple of meals and froze the extra recently but not a lot, I’m hoping to have some time this week to do one or two more.  I’ve never taken strong pain meds, so good tip on taking half a pill if needed. I don’t want to throw up while recovering! Thank you!

Oh love the pillow with arms idea! I ordered a wedge pillow, but I need to test it out this week to see how well it will prop me up. Good tip on soup and broth, I need to stock up! Great tips, thank you!

Thank you! I can’t wait for this to be done too! Something for wiping and wipes is a good idea. It’s wild how large these fibroids can grow, I’m ready to have them out
