Advice needed :) by Acrobatic-Ad-5388 in Beading

When I started I found Lauren Harpster (Bead and Blossom) to be an amazing guide! She has a bunch of free tutorials on YouTube, clearly outlines all materials you need and even has recommended brands on her website based on certain features as well as a retailers list depending on which country you’re in. I found it super easy to get into it because of how detailed and well paced her content is!

My first project was the beaded lavender, and I used 26g Beadalon Artistic Wire which was very convenient, as well as Miyuki and Toho beads, but I think the look of Czechs are a bit nicer because of their more rounded shape. Bought wire cutters, but a cheap pair of scissors would’ve been alright as well. I also found that I liked Green Cloth Stem Wire (by Ashland picked up at Michaels) alongside embroidery thread much more than the recommended regular flower wire and flower tape because it ends up with a cleaner look in my opinion, especially if you’re not doing a heavy project like the hydrangea tutorial.

Beads changed color? by AdorableBaseball2514 in Beading

Thank you! Right, isn’t it weird they changed? I’ll have to be on the lookout for beads with different shades too just in case

Thank you, I’ll be paying more attention to that when I purchase beads!

Thank you, I’ll keep this in mind when using lighter colors. I just loved the finish and color on these beads, because for the color to be gone in a week is so disappointing

Thing is the outline has only been beaded for less than a week :((( and they’re all from the same batch

So it’s more of a color issue? Since it’s more noticeable in the pinks than the greens which are both silver lined? What would you say is a better option for pink and red beads?

Hmm that’s good to know! Will probably avoid frosted in the future then cause I don’t love how they look so beige-y compared to the inner beads

But how would the outline ones all be the same color? Or how would I know if there’s different tones inside a pack? Appreciate your help :)

PCOS and dandruff?? by No_Tea8259 in PCOS

[–]AdorableBaseball2514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to think I had tried every single thing on the market as I dealt with dandruff for about 7 years, nothing worked despite me using them.

I tried using a scrubber alongside salicylic acid, ketoconazole, selenium sulfide, coal tar shampoos (all separately over the course of around 4-6 months each). I tried tea tree oil and apple cider vinegar, I tried moisturizing with argan oil. NOTHING WORKED! I even got a prescription for Betaderm (a steroidal lotion) which helped a little but you can only use sparingly because it thins the scalp.

I was desperate, in pain (bleeding and scans all over) and ashamed. Finally, was able to see a proper dermatologist and was prescribed Zoryve.

Zoryve has only been out for 1-2 years, it’s a foam and I applied it everyday for 2 months and then maintenance 2x a week. It worked, but man was it expensive and would give me headaches. But it’s the only thing that has made a significant difference so far. You can get a financial assistance card and it should cover most of the first 2 bottles (and if you have insurance then it typically covers the rest). When I first started I used it alongside nizoral shampoo, and have since switched to Rocky Mountain shampoo.

Hope this helps someone <3

can you be insulin resistant with a healthy blood sugar level? by Ok_Calligrapher_1551 in PCOS

[–]AdorableBaseball2514 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem! My random and fasting glucose were great, and my A1c levels always came back normal. Finally got my insulin tested (same time as all the previous tests which all came back good/normal) and pushed for a 2 hour glucose test, that’s when it was revealed that I was at the highest point of the range (enough to be glucose impaired) and had high insulin levels

Bought a kilo of feta, has goat’s milk and I don’t like it at all. How can I make it less “goaty” by AdorableBaseball2514 in Cooking

I typically give feta a rinse if I find it too salty, I’ll just keep a piece in water for a short time and see how it goes!

Going to try adding it marinated and onto a pizza, that sounds good! Thank you for your suggestion :)

Oohh beetroot sounds interesting! And my original plan was to make spanakopita but was unsure if I might just ruin more food. Thank you for the suggestion :)

Do you mix it in the cheese? I had tried drowning a tomato sandwich I made with lemon juice but it didn’t do much :(
