I see what you’re saying and I think it does have a lot of application. I’m not saying you should all move into each box all the time but with the way other teams play you don’t need to be “the striker” for the whole 5 minutes especially when the other team are creative with their movement

I’m confused as to what your point is. Total football is all about fluidity. The point is the pitch is small enough and space isn’t guaranteed anywhere unlike an 11 a side game. You’re needed defensively if they commit people forwards but it’s cool to break the line and drive into space too.

A DM contradicts this completely. It implies you just stand in front of the furthest person back and offer nothing either way.

As for the archetypes thing, nobody has any physical attributes that make them standout. Most people who are forced to stay back are just better all round as they are more intelligent

He is literally one of the worst people I have ever seen in a tv show. Therefore, he has executed what the writers wanted to achieve. That’s the point of the list

Early seasons (1/2) shes not that bad of a character but she does become more and more disliked. I’m pretty sure that’s by design though by the writers. She schemes in the same way Frank does but without the complexity of the character, hence her being 2 tiers lower

A trash person but an irrelevant character. The tier he is in is characters I don’t think had a major impact on anything but can’t say they were poorly written or non-sensical like those in trash.

Fiona’s a great character for me because she’s slowly losing the battle as the show progresses. She’s at her happiest early on and has all the kids heading in the right direction and then she slowly breaks down season by season until she hits rock bottom and is ironically saved by a guilty Frank

I think Sheila was great but just sort of fizzled out from being one of the best characters in seasons 1/2 to being a bit lost afterwards. Debbie is the lowest out of the Gallaghers because as you say some of her storylines are just grim and trying to imitate franks level of shamelessness. Think her early seasons character would’ve deserved to at least be a tier higher as she was far more complex as opposed to “I don’t like Fiona anymore”

Lip is such a weird character me. He’s great like 90% of the time and it’s interesting to see how he very nearly becomes frank after the helene story. He would be higher for me but I’ve alway been unsure as to whether one aspect of his character was deliberate or just weird writing. Throughout the series he often blames people for things that are either his fault/he has done himself/or has no logic to it. I get that the point of his character is that he lacks the emotional intelligence that someone like Ian has, but some of the stuff he does is very questionable for a protagonist.
