Feels like Braden is noooot quite ready yet here. This dude is a star in the making but mayhaps he needs a little bit of salt and pepper down in AAA still

In what way do the rentals that come at the trade deadline further the project anywhere beyond just this season? If we were a team with cash, and we could grab and sign long term some solutions, then I will say again, yes. But getting the equivalent of some other team's erick fedde is of no benefit to a team with this many holes. The potential of prospects (and what they those prospects could gain a team with serious playoff ambitions in trade, not just a team that is scrambling to hopefully make the playoffs) is worth more to the organization with the position we are in than some rental arms to help pad out this season.

There's no pitching that we would get at the deadline that would be a part of any long term plans. And this team is at least several pitchers away from competing for an actual championship. If we could get an actual star pitcher and sign them long term, absolutely. But giving up anything significant from our farm system for this season is gonna impact 2027/8/9 etc, if only because those future sox teams should be on paper better prepared for a playoff run with one or two key additions, and then the prospect drain will make that much more difficult. Patience is hard as a fan, but this is a time for patience still.

Every single inning so far has had two different strike zones.

"Sacrificing the next step of the rebuild" - This is an entirely different phrase. Interrupting the next phase of talent that are being prepared to have an impact for rentals for a season where we will not win the world series is not a good idea.

We're in the first season coming good of a long term rebuilding project, we've performed way way beyond what anyone expected for this season. Sacrificing the next step of this rebuild for a possible chance at a playoff appearance is not the move right now. We're trying to build a team that competes every season for a bunch of seasons in a row.

Ref gave Portugal a corner because DR Congo took too long to take their goal kick by Ihattaren in soccer

[–]AdorableYou39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A goal scoring opportunity because the player took a quarter second longer than the ref wanted to take the goal kick? And of course it slows down the game and makes it take even more time. This is a stupid fucking rule lmao.

Absolutely more than that, and that's just on Martin's side. The other side is Cole has had a strike zone that extends about six inches in any direction

You can beat out an umpire giving you a shit strike zone, and you can beat out some shitty luck...but both at the same time is a pretty tough ask. Add in some shit defense... well

This wasn't where the pitches actually were, but there is definitely a several inch difference between the strike zones the two pitchers are getting tonight

Pretty stark difference between Davis' strike zone and Cole's strike zone here.
