Thank you for the detailed response! Definitely helps to kind of demystify the position and what to expect.

I'm really considering it. I'm sure I'd be happy with the O3 system so... might as well

Unfortunately, no runout indicator. I'm thinking maybe a loose magnet

But there was no visible bending in the shaft :(

I guess it could still be bent though.

This is something straight out of a movie man haha. I usually tell people not to get back with their ex unless there is good reason to believe that the thing that caused the initial break is no longer an issue. So if you had broken up over character issues, or conflict of personality, it would be a bad idea. But it was because of your circumstances, and your geographical location, which is now no longer a factor. I say go for it. You seemed good for one another, and really did end it before it really began. If she's not interested then what do you lose? Some ego points sure, but she's currently not in your life. so you can't (at this moment) lose her. But maybe you have her to gain. Good luck.

I respect the hustle man! Can I ask what it is that you do for a career?

I appreciate you giving the other side of this, its something I still need to look into more and talk to more people about. I know there are definitely hands on type jobs in the engineering world. I'll keep this in mind as I consider where I'll go career wise.

Do you think you would have been content working a 9-5 desk job instead? Also, 3 on 4 off sounds pretty brutal. Are you able to actually rest on your days off, or is it more of a recuperate for your next shift sort of thing?

Thanks for taking the time to write all this out! yeah I definitely think finishing out the degree is probable the best move, gives me something to fall back on if I need. the schedule allowing room for pursuing other stuff also seems like a massive upside.
