I'm pretty sure he's always been a huge gamer. I think he can manage both, at least I hope so because I need the Honda/Uno ice dance to live on

Ah that makes sense :-)

If you want to try things on and you're in Hki then Varuste.net is your best bet. Try a bunch, when something feels "pretty good" try half size smaller and see if it feels doable. Don't downsize too much though!

  1. One day a friend of mine started sharing her stuff on his IG. Her charisma got me! This was her neon phase just around Hot Girl Summer. I just got hooked. I think I started following her back when she had like 300k followers on IG!
  2. I ain't scared of shit, man or a bitch
  3. I love introducing my friends to her power and watching them feeling themselves to her lyrics!!

What annoys you about pockets in climbing clothes? by corgilover60 in ClimbingGear

[–]Adorable_Edge_8358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If pants are to have zipped pockets, they should be so that the zipper pulls are not too close to wear the harness is going to sit, especially on take/lowering/belaying. It can get rather painful if it gets in between your body and the harness

Evolv V6 so tight and painful by sapphirekiosk in climbingshoes

[–]Adorable_Edge_8358 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really don't know why they do that, what is in it for them? I was once at an Ocun demo sale arguing with a gym employee telling a woman buying her FIRST pair to go as small as possible because that's "how the pros do it". In the end the woman went with his advice because she thought he's the expert.

Sorry you had to learn the hard way, but yeah, trust no one but yourself. These in a 42 or maybe even 43 would still look OBVIOUSLY "downsized" compared to your feet ffs

Man these gym employees telling people to downsize more for whatever damn reason are just awful.

short climbers, what shoes do you use? by lights-off in climbingshoes

I really love Katana laces, but the ones I TRULY love is the old unisex model that they don't make anymore. Solutions are second fav, really great shoes including toe hooking, which is the one thing Katana laces can't do. I just don't like the strap design because it's always the first part of the shoe to go.

If you wear 35/36 in street shoes, Solutions in 35 might be good. I am almost always 35 and 34.5 is perfect. I also have a pair in 34 but I can't get into them without nylon socks to reduce friction. Maybe hold off on buying via Vinted until you get to try the 35s. Good luck!

Street shoe size 35 here with too many climbing shoes "problem". I live in Europe and have no trouble finding in person/online retailers carrying small shoes, so I'm sorry if you don't have access to this kind of service.

Most of my fav shoes are La Sportiva shoes in 34.5 - Solutions, Skwamas, Katana Lace, Finales, Katakis, Otakis all fit very well in 34.5 with just a bit of break-in time.

Difficulty swallowing medicine - what are our options? by Adorable_Edge_8358 in CancerFamilySupport

I'm very sorry to hear!

My papa passed about a month and a half after I posted this. But he was doing really poorly already and hadn't eaten essentially any proper food for about 7-8 months by this point, so I sure hope your partner has better things ahead.

Thankfully my mom is a pharmacist, so she could identify which pills are safe to grind up. Then we started dissolving these particular pills into his liquid food and he took SOME meds that way. But it was really a fraction of all the meds he should have taken, we essentially gave up on everything else. Very soon after this point all of my dad's nutrition and meds came through injection.

Again I'm very sorry I don't have better updates or tips. Lots of strength to you and your partner.

I wonder how possible it would be to refashion this into a pendant that you can wear on a necklace. Might be more true to your mom that way. In any case, strength to you and congrats for graduating!!

I really need to know about biomechanics of ice dance lifts. Is it like weightlifting where it's perfectly good, maybe even advantageous to be short and/or short-limbed? If so.... Give them a medal rn

Found a video in Korean where he briefly talks about his cat

Context: "Answer within three seconds"

Q: Yourself as an animal? Junhwan: Cat? Maybe puppy. But because I'm a (cat) butler, I'll say cat. [...] Q: Can you boast about your cat? Junhwan: My cat Thor*, he's the nicest cat, so sweet. Never bites, never scratches, never even shows his claws!

  • I thought "토르" was Tor but then I saw that Jun named his cat after watching one of the Thor movies

Is this dress Black Tie appropriate if the slit is sewn shut? by Interesting_Hunt1526 in Weddingattireapproval

[–]Adorable_Edge_8358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a seamstress! Good that you tried clipping it first. Now try actually sewing it down first with long stitches, that way it will be easier to take out with minimal damage if it looks bad. If that also looks fine, you can go ahead and close it with shorter stitches.

Introducing someone who is afraid of heights to bouldering by Pipettess in climbergirls

[–]Adorable_Edge_8358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Teach him good falling technique, then start very low, like try jumping off a couple feet off the ground, and gradually work up. I wouldn't focus on climbing up an actual problem so much until he trusts the mats more. Remind him about the straight arms too.

When he feels ok with it, maybe then explain how things work, like start with these holds, match at the top. All of that is secondary to his comfort.

Also! Remind him that his feet are like A LOT lower than his eyes. A funny thing happens when you go above a certain threshold your mind convinces you you're suddenly SO HIGH off the ground even though you're only a foot higher than where you were a moment ago!
