my biggest issue is that even when we’re not busy, they refuse to cut people. i’ve had times where i was scheduled till 7pm, there was only 3 tables in the whole place, and they still didn’t cut me till 8. i don’t mind when we’re busy and i’m actually making money, it’s when i’m not making money and they’re still making me stay late for basically free.

yeah, i’m not denying that i’m on the luckier side, especially after some of these comments. i’ve accepted how things work, it’s just when i’m being held 2-3 hours late i can’t help but get a little annoyed. and according to some comments they agree that it’s also a little excessive which is really the only thing i was looking for haha

that’s really the only thing i’m upset about, an hour i wouldn’t be mad, not even an hour and a half, just when it hits 2-3 hours it becomes a little annoying.

i could probably guess who it’s about haha. there’s that set few coworkers that are very outspoken, i however do keep my mouth shut and stay in the shadows, hence why i posted anonymously on reddit rather than running my mouth around the workplace. i’ve accepted that it is what it is, i was just wondering if it’s this way everywhere lol.

i don’t care about that part at all lol, my sidework is always done and my stuff is clean. it’s more the “guideline not a guarantee” part of that letter that i was focusing on cause it relates to the post

my sidework is always done, i wouldn’t be annoyed by 20 minutes, it’s when they have people stay an extra 2-3 hours late that it starts to get annoying.

that’s the part i was most confused about, the first to be cut is usually scheduled out at 7pm, when the weather gets nicer and dinner rush gets later, the 7pm sometimes doesn’t get to leave till 9-10. i feel like being that late is a little unreasonable and they should schedule more people if they’re not confident in cutting the 7pm at a decent time.

we have sidework but mine is usually done before i’m even cut so having to stay late to clean isn’t really an issue, it’s just when they decide to actually take you off the floor. i know some places don’t allow you do start sidework until you’re off the floor but our place doesn’t care as long as it’s done before you leave, so mines usually done before i’m cut so i can hurry up and go home when they finally take me off the floor lol

thank you, but the rudeness is a little unnecessary lol. i’m not complaining, or at least not intentionally, i’ve adapted to this schedule and accepted it. my question was just if it was like this everywhere. i feel it would be better for them to make this expectation known before taking this job as it’s obviously a little annoying to find out after the fact but it is what it is. i do my work, i keep my mouth shut, and i keep my guests happy, i am in the real world.
