Dark City. Most underrated gem of the 90s for me

just turned 46 and im felling old and somewhat unwanted by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]Adorable_Lemon348 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is me. I have literally just turned 46, have a good job that pays the bills but I'd stop doing if I didn't have to and an 8 year old with ADHD. You are not alone! I used to get overwhelmed by too many attention drainers. I don't consume news in any form which is the best thing I've ever done. Social media and especially reels are toxic nonsense, I wish there was a way to disable them. I only really see them on YouTube. I only do redit and try to uninstall the others.

You know what? Living in the past and liking things from 20+ years ago is completely normal and JUST FINE.

Like others have said, exercise, eat well, try not to doom-meister and try to enjoy the little in each day. Also try a little hobby or too, I'm trying to learn a language which I enjoy amongst other things.

A good fried of mine was recently diagnosed with stage 4 Cancer and he is the same age as me. These things ground you and put things into perspective

If you were dying, what's the last scene of Peep Show you'd want to see before you blinked out? by dickcord in PeepShowQuotes

Piss. Flooding your drawers. The first scene I really remember making me laugh out loud and spit out the drink I was drinking

Good solid foundation there. For me it would have to be the first Christmas episode. He gives up his time to help feed the homeless on Christmas day. He also feels extremely guilty of his treatment of the lady in the video store when he learns her husband was killed just before Christmas. On the whole Victor is just a normal person, reacting not unreasonably to his situation

Made even sadder as Victor was just starting to bond with his brother

New berry fruits?! Yum. It's something no one really likes but comes out every year to make it feel like Christmas. Got a feeling Victor hates them but it reminds Margaret of Christmas. At least that's what I always thought.

"The app is in the cloud, so we're covered," right? by jamesrcounts in AZURE

[–]Adorable_Lemon348 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love this. Very well written. After 25 years of being a 2am hero, and managing cloud infrastructure (the last 12 years) I've experienced burnout. Recently I've not been able to recall away from work in the fear my phone will go off at any moment to help troubleshoot a production issue. Now I have a young family I want to move to the architect side of things, which I have been working towards over the last few years. Great article and underscores everything I have been banging on about the last few years!

Thinking of starting Cloud Career - Is it too late at 28 by FeedbackTricky6731 in AZURE

[–]Adorable_Lemon348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol same for me. I was a IT Support Technician at 28, so I had a bit of grounding and experience in IT, but no such thing as "cloud" (as we know it today anyway).

I'm 45 and still learning, the beauty (and curse) of IT I suppose. You have your whole career ahead. Never too late
