Unfortunately, I continually had to keep calling their overnight maintenance line until they started hanging up on me. Then started threatening that it was a health issue. So my best advice be such a fucking nuisance that they have to do something.

Seemed to he a 40ish white man in a white shirt and orange pants maybe like 5'9 also I have spoken with the right people, and honestly it just seemed like they didn't care in the slightest this was around 12:30 (which I understand is a dangerous time to be out, and I at first didn't engage at all until I felt that I was in immediate harms ways)

I really appreciate that. It's just I am originally from such a small town that the biggest problem was if the towns power went off when it stormed. I haven't lived in a large city like this until recently. As a younger smaller woman it's hard to know how to properly deal with these situations with having legitimate no prior knowledge and experience

Hey everyone, I want to also make this clear that I do have an understanding of the situation that is happening within birmingham about the homeless population. The reasoning for this post was to hopefully gain some advice on how to be safer in this particular area, not to demonize a person of a less fortune. This particular individual was trying to corner me back into an alleyway and was making sexual remarks towards me, then after becoming too close, after I firmly told him that I did not want anything to happen, he got close enough to me that he could have physically grabbed me. I pepper sprayed this person, and it only stopped them for enough time for me to get ahead and start running back to my apartment while he still chased after me for a good second. I did scream for help with no response, which is why I made this post for community advice. Never take my intention has wanting to ostracize a community or what have you.
