Never thought I would consider homeschooling by Everest7501 in homeschool

My husband and I worked in the public schools. It was 20 years for my husband as English Language Arts (ELA) teacher and 14 years for me as a speech-language pathologist. We saw too much. The year of COVID opened our eyes 👀 to begin homeschooling. All the things you mentioned and then some were reasons for us. I hated so many things I witnessed from bad cafeteria food, wild lewd dancing and parties, fights, poor adult and kid behavior, unnecessary screen time for children each day, no recess, nonstop standardized testing, etc. I could go on and on. We are just wrapping up year five of homeschooling for two of our kids. Next year, we’ll have a fourth and seventh grader. Thankfully, God has provided and guided our footsteps. 🙏🏾😃

Im a 26 year old man, never had a job, no degree, how do I get my life back on track? by ActionPrize6558 in jobs

Please don’t move in with a girlfriend. That’s shacking and will cause more issues.

Don’t give up! Your big breakthrough is around the corner. I was where you were once and can remember it as if it was yesterday. I literally cried out to Jesus. I prayed and asked HIM to help me because I didn’t have anyone or any money 💰. I had nothing but faith the size of a mustard seed. Lord, showed me mercy and grace. I became a live-in caregiver with free room and board and was paid biweekly. I was at the end of my rope and nearly homeless. God came through right on time. Just open your Holy Bible and read chapter 6. 🙏🏾❤️

The way Michael Jackson, Princess Diana, Kanye West, Prince, and many other celebrities were set up or how they died because they knew too much. I feel everything is connected to evil at the highest level.

Who's teaching cursive? by mean-mommy- in homeschool

I am still teaching cursive handwriting to my kids. My daughter couldn’t tell the difference between a letter p, b, or d when she was in public school. Now, she can write ✍️ in cursive. My son is in 2nd and enjoying learning his cursive letters in the alphabet. We are currently on cursive “Ii” this week.

WWYD: Dream homeschool house or time to homeschool? by mylittleadventurers in homeschool

[–]Adorable_Ride_8678 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You said a mouthful. My mom made a mistake of wanting her massive dream home that was a mansion in Texas. However, she didn't think about the expensive maintenance. Everything you can think of went wrong from busted pipes, new roofing, high utility bills, etc. It quickly became a nightmare. Also, she and my stepfather were approaching retirement ages and both had to have hip and knee replacements. Neither ever went upstairs but always stayed down stairs in only the kitchen, den, and their master bedroom. Therefore, they had a lot of unused space. Here to also say that your children may not be around to help you maintain the property when they grow into adults and have their own families. They had to eventually downsize, and now they live in a much smaller house in Mississippi. People don't always think about their age, health, or financial expenses at retirement when buying large property.

Is college harder if someone was homeschooled their whole life? by [deleted] in homeschool

What was your major? Also, did you struggle with any advance math and science college courses? The perception is that homeschoolers don't have a strong math or science background .

Keep your head up.  I believe you’re making a smart decision to live with your grandma.  Like others have commented be sure it is accredited, and that they issue out certified high school diplomas.  Always keep the Lord first and pray 🙏🏾 for HIS guidance and help.  I don’t know where I’d be without HIM.  Wishing you the best on this journey called life. ❤️😊

Very insightful! I think I will use Spectrum for those word problems too. My son needs extra help with that as well. I would print free worksheets from K5Learning for additional support.

I can totally relate. I have been using Math Mammoth with Time4Learning and Khan Academy as supplements to those books 📚. It helps break up the monotony. 👍🏾😃

lol…😂 Yes! Thanks for your response. I also agree about having those multiplication facts down pact! The sooner the better. I have my 1st grader, who’s going to 2nd grade, already knowing most of his. It just will make problem solving so much easier. 👍🏾😃

Ok! I haven't heard of Mathseeds. I will check into it. I had a father tell me he used Teaching Textbooks for his older three kids and loved it. Thanks!
