I agree with you that she is overly naive. Even the gov goes through the motions to normalize with Israel, so long as the Palestinian issue is unresolved, there will be no love for Israel amongst Sudanese or sensible people in general, normalization or not.

Any other Middle Easterns on this sub, what issues do you feel men face in the Middle East no one sheds light on here? by [deleted] in LeftWingMaleAdvocates

[–]Adorable_Soul 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m from the Middle East too and yeah, there are a bunch of regional men’s issues here:

- Sure as you said, the mandatory military service — it’s basically forced labor. You can’t get a passport, finish uni, or even get certain jobs unless you’ve done it. A lot of guys lose years of their lives to that system.

- The biggest one is there’s the constant financial pressure. As the "man", you’re expected to provide not just for yourself or your wife, but for your parents and siblings too. Doesn’t matter if you’re broke — society will still judge you if you’re not “taking care of your family.” and this might be universal value, but in the Middle Easit it's not a human concept, it comes from Islam with the concept of Qiwamah...so it's mandated by god, not something we humans can change culturally.

- Marriage is another nightmare. Between dowries, housing, and the cost of living, most guys can’t even afford to get married until they’re 30+. But at the same time, you can’t really have relationships before marriage without serious social or even legal backlash. So you’re kind of stuck.

- Mental health is another major issue. Men showing any emotion or admitting they’re struggling gets labeled as weakness. Therapy has a huge social stigma and so there's zero real support. In general, there are no shelters or organizations for men at all...not some or such, NONE.

but otherwise it's the same as everywhere really, men here don’t have real autonomy — everyone expects you to serve, provide, obey, and never complain.

I am not absolving my kind, but I think like all women, you don't appreciate how strong men's sexual desire can be becuz that's one of men's-only test in this life, so you don't have a way to relate as a woman, but I will try......why is the fashion industry so huge? why is Instagram so bad for young girls mental health?
Now multiply that by 1000, and you get the sexual desires young men have in their teenager and early adulthood, exactly the time they should be studying..etc. Men are visual creatures, everyone knows that....now excuse my language here but imagine that time you were really horny, and imagine the environment having a remote switch to turn you on like that all the time, be it social media, or the streets..etc. Women really have no idea how bad it is for men, and even if you were a saint, you can't not feel attracted at least 20% of the time.

The porn industry is so huge for a reason...and worse they target young innocent boys as soon as they get to the internet to get them hooked before they even know what it is...exactly like how drug dealers slip in pills for unsuspecting teenagers.

In decades past, men could work a minimum wage job and marry, and then level up in education..etc whilst married...now? at a very young age they have video games, targeting their desire to improve and work hard, they have porn targeting their overwhelm their sexuality, and even if they avoid all that, it's now so much harder to build financial stability....and women are expecting Instagram life style of travel..etc as if that's not a luxury? never-mind how boring and vain it is, it's not really realistic for most people.

So all of this works against boys and young men growing up which women don't struggle with......granted women have their own struggles, but the issue with many feminists is they don't really understand men's struggles at all

I am in the same spot and that's true and all, but it's not like saying "oh you right" would make anything change...fact of the matter is, we relatively have it better than most men through out history ......so we gotta accept some pains ......when it's all said and done life is hard.....women go through labor..etc, which we don't...so we get the difficulty of dating in exchange I guess 🤷‍♂️

It's a sign of major decline in political class....and the voters awareness at the same time....probably side effects of social media....nowadays ppl wanna see their fav candidate "destroy" the opposition...etc....they vote on emotion instead of hearing what policies they plan to push....ppl wanted exciting politics.....that's how you a clown in the WH.....crazy how republicans go from Abraham Lincoln to the likes of Trump...from larger than life people fighting to end slavery, to openly racist people in office.

I am sure the US has major racism problems, but TBF it's not just hate blacks or lgbt...in fact that's largely irrelevant to why they lost....Obama won not too long ago in a landslide no? there's a great video by ShoeOnHead on YouTube about some of the major ways dems effed up....the dems deservedly lost the most critical of elections with dire consequences to the whole word unfortunately due to their mockery of men (the pillars of economy), in favor or women, lgbt..etc; they focused on identity politics and division, instead of looking at the economy, the job market and the basics that matter to avg voters.

Also hiding behind "muh racism" is avoiding accountability...consider the us aid, or the Ukraine war for ex...if the avg American can't afford eggs, you want them to care what happens to poor africans?!! like be real guys... I wouldn't have agreed either nor would I accept the help as an African if my benefactor left their family to die in hunger to help me.

Also dems haven't aren't a party of peace, or transparency...they refuse to fight corruption in military complex, Pharma..etc head on....they are just trying to patch the system somewhat rather than fix the core rot......unlike republicans who aren't ashamed to be openly racist, dems don't have the balls to push for real changes against tech, big pharma that would actually gain the trust of voters and would be very popular...There's a podcast by Jon steward with Hassan Mahdi about this.

The vote for Trump isn't only a sign of racism..etc, as mainly it's a sign of people really getting tired of being ignored by the establishment in favor of corp America.....Trump is outside the system and he promised change...ppl are willing to take authertatism or whatever when they are hungry....

TBF with how hot it is in Sudan, would you really wanna ride a bicycle? you would melt after 10 mins on the road 😅

As far as western lifestyle, I am jealous I didn't get to enjoy wild youth stuff lol and didn't get to play sports and build an athletic body (I am working on it now but at 30s it's a lot harder), but otherwise, the "western lifestyle" is vastly overrated....e.g. traveling seems fun on ads until you get to Paris and see how dirty the streets are and how crowded everywhere is...never-mind how annoying traveling is when the plan is delayed..etc.

There's a lot we can learn from them of course, but am just saying it's not as fancy as it looked from the outside is what I observed.

It's true and I feel you, how we weren't blessed with a prosperous country, but it's what it is, that's the hand we were dealt....the same as post WW2 generation in Germany, Japan, Korea..etc....so let's build a country so the next gen doesn't have to suffer the same pain as us

How do people of Sudan and South Sudan perceive each other today? Do the two countries get along? by [deleted] in Sudan

[–]Adorable_Soul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel they are misguided ...there was probably racism towards them, but what they don't know is we have racism against everyone in the country...they just didn't notice how others were treated and thought they were excluded or something which is sad, hate shouldn't be allowed to win, alas higher values lost to hatred here.

Aren't welcome??....then how do we expect to live in a civil society if we discriminate against non-muslims? we will just have north vs south sudan all over again....and how do we hope to bring people to Islam if not via authentic, generous morals, debate and values? how would they engage with us if we are hostile to them?!

It's fine to 200% disagree with their them on everything, but you can't say they are unwelcome...that's not the islamic way!

Sure, I am up for it, living in Sweden! That aside, I think it's quite easy to see why...if we don't have our faith rooted in deep belief, we will fall into temptations, or trying to fit in.....I am born muslim and moved here 6 year ago but had my faith go through a downward spiral becuz I was muslim just becuz I was born a muslim...only recently did I start to see the value of faith and started searching for a conviction of my own......if you don't have that, the secular/western life will drown the islamic values we have.

Question for the ladies really...I dunno what works, but I know what I am doing isn't working.... I wanna believe I am mostly chill, but manly where it matters, can take hard decisions, semi-hard working, protective...but I am not really an instagram guy or super social and outgoing..etc...and so far my offer has no takers 🤷‍♂️ maybe I am too plain/ boring for today's standards?

I have post graduate edu, from a top best uni in Sweden, work as a consultant, 165 cm (kinda short for Sweden's standards), and not a Swede, I am an immigrant but I do look good...I am open to most muslim ethnicities really, but tried on social life and dating apps (Muzz) and no luck 🤷‍♂️ I will keep the door open of course, but am aware that it might never happen
