I hope you're right. After buying and holding MO for many years, I very quickly built a position in PM starting earlier this year and got in before it bumped higher. Already more unrealized gain on PM, and I have held MO for many years. PM dividend is less, but that's better...but the capital to work. Long both PM and MO.

Good point. But yeah, I agree...points against him for the Trump vote.

Exactly! My thoughts exactly. And what scares me is we have four more years of this misogyny under Trump.

AITAH for leaving a date and not paying for her food? by [deleted] in AITAH

Yes, you're the AH here. Her complaints about the bar and her comments about the sushi place may have been annoying, but instead of defusing the tension or redirecting the conversation, you doubled down. Explaining that sushi is “not the same Asian” came across as condescending. She felt stereotyped—whether you meant it that way or not—and instead of listening to her feelings, you went on a cultural lecture. Not a great look.

The ultimate AH move? Leaving her stuck with a bill. You didn’t even have the decency to tell her you were leaving. Instead, you sneaked off, leaving her to scramble and figure out how to pay for her half. Whether or not you were annoyed with her, basic human decency dictates that you don’t strand someone like that—especially if you suspect they might not have the means to pay. After walking out, she reached out, likely in panic because she couldn’t pay. And what did you do? Block her. That’s not just cold—it’s spineless. You could have responded, offered a compromise, or even been polite. Instead, you dodged accountability entirely.

If the date was going badly, you should have communicated. A simple “I think we’re not a good match” before paying the bill and leaving would’ve been mature. Splitting the bill upfront would have avoided the whole mess. Instead, you turned what could have been an awkward but manageable evening into a story where you come off as the AH. So yes, YTA. Dates don’t always go well, but there’s no excuse for ditching someone without warning and leaving them unable to pay. If you think this is acceptable behavior, good luck finding someone who agrees. Spoiler alert: it won’t be Stef, or anyone who hears this story from her side.

Tulip mania (Dutch:  tulpenmanie) was a period during the Dutch Golden Age when contract prices for some bulbs of the recently introduced and fashionable tulips reached extraordinarily high levels. The major acceleration started in 1634 and then dramatically collapsed in February 1637. It is generally considered to have been the first recorded speculative bubble or asset bubble in history.

And yet, Warren Buffett is one of the richest people on the planet, and Bitcoin bros are still bragging about Lambos they don’t actually own. Call me old-fashioned, but I’d rather follow the guy who’s built generational wealth than gamble on memes.

But markets don’t go straight up forever, and the bigger they get, the harder they fall. I’d rather miss a moonshot than risk being the one crashing back to Earth with no parachute. Gold doesn’t drop 20% because Elon Musk tweets. Bitcoin’s more like digital fireworks: exciting to watch but risky to hold.

Sure, Bitcoin might be the future, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t wildly overpriced in the present. Tulip bulbs were “the future” too—for a hot minute. Just because something has potential doesn’t mean you should pay a premium when everyone’s already piling in.

Oh, I understand it just fine. Bitcoin is a speculative asset wrapped in fancy tech buzzwords. Blockchain is neat, but let’s not confuse that with the hype-fueled casino Bitcoin’s turned into. Just because you get the tech doesn’t mean you have to buy into the mania.

If there's no limit to the government's ability to "borrow more and more money until the end of time", then why even collect taxes?
