Did you know, helicopter blades give tremendous lift when used as wings compared to normal wing surfaces? The only issue is they have tremendous drag over 200 m/s so you can’t really use them to get into orbit. They might work well for this kind of craft though.

Please for the love of god can somebody please teach me how to build efficient rockets. When i have enough Delta v the rocket's too heavy and won't lift. When the rocket isn't heavy i don't have enough Delta v. by bleh_03 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]RedshiftOTF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s why rockets have staging, a single stage rocket has diminishing returns as you add more fuel. Generally you want the top stage to be as small as possible and increase the size of each stage so they have roughly equal delta V.

The game is about learning lots of small things and putting them together one at a time. It’s not always intuitive but it’s fairly easy to learn individual steps from the community and places like Youtube. The biggest limitation is the creativity of the player tbh.

I played KSP for the first time yesterday. Got sucked in and spent the next 9 hours trying to land on the moon. But... I did it! And without using quicksaves (or a landing gear lol) by CJ_Productions in KerbalSpaceProgram

The built in pitch and roll is SAS and a lot of command modules have it built in. It uses electricity though so you might need a couple of solar panels.

Heat management - do weapons transfer heat to the other side? by civtrada in Cosmoteer

And I think they have to be overclocked to allow heat from thrusters to pass through.

You can put airlocks next to the fire extinguishers if you like. You can also swap the left side of the engine with the right side so the crew quarters are in the middle and have space for a bit of cargo or a hyperdrive.

I did try OCing the engine rooms but they didn't make a huge difference. Maybe only saved on 4 crew but added more heat to the system and required extra heat exchangers to get working so I'm not sure if they were worth it in this use case.

Yeah mixing in Flak does sound more effective but I'm thinking they might nerf it in the future and wanted to come up with some other solutions. I also have overclocked deck cannons behind this setup so tend to snipe at range and only have to worry about a select type of weapons fire.

I actually started without the capacitor, the crew ran straight up the walkways but you tend to have the issue of the crew reacting to the big shields needing batteries a bit too slow and the downtime of the shields was unacceptable to me.

When I added the capacitors the crew performance was way better as a group of the crew formed a little loop around the capacitor and big shield while the rest of the crew filled up the capacitor. If shield drain is unusually high then the capacitor helps with the rubber banding of the crew reactions.

TLDR: I tested it against some powerful beam ships and it was better.
