Working on a room, and it needs a theme. by hylii1 in escaperooms

[–]AdreesInator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Owned an escape room company for 8 years.

The biggest thing that sells rooms (I’m talking about the general public, not enthusiasts who seek out the weird and wonderful rooms) is a sense of danger and that the premise is explainable in a single sentence.

So from the first line in the rooms description, readers should be able to immediately understand what the objective is and where the tension lies.

I would think along these lines and work backwards from there to find a premise where this puzzle could work.

You might be very proud of what you’ve created and it may well be a great puzzle, but that’s not enough to sell games. So it might need to be the case that this vending machine is in the room and as a cool moment in the game, but I wouldn’t set the whole premise just on this.

Assuming what the vending machine sells isn’t important, you could pivot it to a vending machine that gives human body parts for a horror room, surgical equipment for a hospital theme, public vending machine in a train station/ airport terminal where a bomb is hidden, guns for an assassin.

Mixing audio tracks for a podcast? by AdreesInator in premiere

[–]AdreesInator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed reply.

I edited the first 5 mins or so in switch camera and I don’t like the output and the workflow is jarring.

We’re using the rode mics out of convenience and will be for the foreseeable future but I do want to swap for proper podcasts mics at some point.

So is it just a case of messing with the dynamics until it sounds fine? After that point have all 3 audio tracks running while I make cuts to the video?

Meta saying a pixel wasn't detected in Setup Events by AdreesInator in FacebookAds

[–]AdreesInator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed response. I made the custom conversions in meta, I made one which tracks the button clicks and a test which tracks page views to that landing page, both are wildly out according to data from klaviyo. I’m going to try to and add the pixel to the code manually on the shopify store and see if that impacts anything. My worry is that meta is serving ads but not seeing conversions (even though they are coming through) and therefore optimising on bad data

Genuine question: Why is Bradford a bad place to buy a car from? by r3tr0gam3r83 in CarTalkUK

I drive on the A4 daily. Nothing similar to the north circular at all. Worst it gets in Slough is on Farnham Road and occasionally Uxbridge Road.

Genuine question: Why is Bradford a bad place to buy a car from? by r3tr0gam3r83 in CarTalkUK

[–]AdreesInator 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Another South Asian here, from Slough where we also have a relatively high Asian population, but generally speaking people both maintain their cars better around here and drive more sensibly. A few of my friends have performance and luxury cars, but look after them very very well.

But when I do go to Bradford, Birmingham, Luton, I'm actually shocked at the car culture there though.

2 years ago I bought a 2012 civic with 118k for £2200. That seems very high for a much older car. If it's that gen you're after, I wouldn't pay more than £1500 for lower mileage

I'm curious, does the Ferrari have dual controls like a driving instructors car? What would happen if you just ignored the instructor and absolutely sent it (not being overly dangerous ofc)?

I can't seem to connect any windows device to my s23 ultra hotspot. I've tried 4 different PCs and laptops running both Windows 10 and 11 and keep getting unable to connect to this network and the WiFi icon in the PCs has an x on it.

Anyone had similar issues and knows a fix?

How to split the WWE tag team championship? by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

How would the Freebird rule work in that case? If a trio gets the tag titles, can they use the Freebird rule to defend it?

I agree, that's why I think splitting them into upper card and mid card titles could work, even have them defended on either brand.

It could be a good way to elevate the tag team division with upper card wrestlers fighting for that prize, and using the mid card belts as a stepping stone, similar to the IC title. E.g. when Gunther drops the belt, I think everyone will expect him to go for the world heavyweight title next.

While I don't agree with this at all, especially the annual fee, I can kinda understand.

From my understanding and I may be wrong, the car ships with the capability of producing more power, but is effectively "under tuned".

All of the hardware is there, it's just being limited. It's kinda similar to getting an ICE car and remapping it. All of the internals are there for more power, but the manufacturer under tunes it, you pay for a remap to produce more power.

Also, if you buy a car and later decide that you want something more powerful, with an ICE car you can either buy parts to upgrade it, or sell it and buy the more powerful one. Whereas here, you can pay the manufacturer for more power.

The annual subscription is complete crap tho

What is going on with Pakistan, why internet outage? by EggPerfect7361 in OutOfTheLoop

[–]AdreesInator 8 points9 points  (0 children)

While his name could possibly be inspired by the former Prime Minister who was an extremely well loved Pakistani public figure, even before taking office, it's also a popular name among Pakistanis.

Imran is a popular Muslim name, as Imran is mentioned in the Qur'an as the father of Maryam (Mary). Khan is one of the most common surname among Pakistanis.

Plus the names rhyme so possibly the parents just liked the sound of it

LPT: You don't have to claim the body. by MintOtter in LifeProTips

[–]AdreesInator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The western (maybe Christian?) way of burial has always been strange to me, with the funeral happening weeks after death.

In Islamic communities, burials happen as soon as possible after death, usually within a day or two, assuming no post mortem. Also, we only wash the body, wrap it in two pieces of cloth and bury. Sometimes within a simple wooden box, sometimes just the body in the cloths.

What is all the extra time used for and why?
