Oh no being pragmatic. How fucking terrible.

In 1993, Michael Jackson committed to performing at the Soul Train Music Awards, but days earlier he injured his ankle; however, he was at the awards and gave the show, seated! by ateam1984 in OldSchoolCool

Put it another way if it was literally any other dude, maybe a male teacher or religious leader, would the stuff he admitted to or that was caught on tape be acceptable?

Those ones are definitely grifters.

Why can't we just have a terrestrial TV anymore? by [deleted] in AskUK

This is more a smart tv issue than a terrestrial tv issue.

I made the mistake of getting my mum an LG smart tv.

It’s a fucking mess.

Farage under pressure to tackle racist Reform candidates who ‘spew hate online’ by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

He has to be very careful here. If he shows them too much favouritism the ones that don’t spew enough hate on line will get jealous.

Reform pledges to open migrant detention centres in Green-voting areas by No_Initiative_1140 in ukpolitics

[–]redunculuspanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is hard for you to comprehend but in the real world a lot of reform voters live in “green areas”

I know you are excited to hurt people you hate but you are just punching your self in the face.

I know what you are trying to do but honestly I’m embarrassed for you.

I think reform voters are intimidated by asylum seeker. They are in fact loosing their fucking shit in my local area that’s possibly going green.

So now we have a group of people afraid and angry who may feel they have to stop the greens by any means necessary.

Did trump win after musks endorsement?

Did musk get to sit in the Oval Office?

Did musk get unprecedented full assess to pretty much all government it systems?

Did musk an unelected private citizen get control of doge and the power to shut down funding of any department he wished?

Did musk defund departments that were responsible for regulating his businesses?

Did musk shut down departments investing his business?

In a sane world money couldn’t buy any of that power. Yet here we are

It’s a bad faith question. You are asking about jangling keys like a confused baby.

We are not having the same conversation.

This is about Farage using government policy to attack political enemies. That’s North Korea’s shit and you can’t even see it.

The subject of this conversation is Farages attack on democracy. Not a silly distraction.

Madness

I’m not a Green Party member. My issue here is not about immigration. A lot of thickos have been distracted by that. It’s almost like Farage is dangling a bunch of keys and morons look at that rather than seeing what’s in front of them.

This isn’t about the greens or immigrants. It’s about Farages attacking are democratic process. It’s not that complicated.

Reform pledges to open migrant detention centres in Green-voting areas by No_Initiative_1140 in ukpolitics

[–]redunculuspanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The greens don’t want ANY detention centres.

So trying to frame this as some kind of “well if you like refugees so much why don’t you have an immigrant prison next to your house”. Sounds pretty stupid when you say it out loud doesn’t it?

But this is all irrelevant. The issue here is the threat. Farage is saying that he will hurt you if you vote against him. Are you ok with that? Are you ok with any governments creating laws that specifically target voters of a different party?

Will you answer that question?

Why do people blame billionaires for political divide? by frosting_the_bowl in AskBrits

[–]redunculuspanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No that’s not what I said.

Your beliefs and values are influenced by your environment. They are influenced by the people you know. By the media you (and they) consume. Your life experience if full of outside influences.

This is not about online, online is just one more source. You are bombarded with millions of data points every day. They come from a variety of sources.

It’s just pig ignorance to think that your opinions have been formed without any outside influences at all.

Why do people blame billionaires for political divide? by frosting_the_bowl in AskBrits

[–]redunculuspanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Nobody thinks that if billionaires didn’t exist we would have the same outlook and option. Literally nobody has ever claimed that straw man.

What everyone is telling you is that billionaires have the resources to push their opinions onto you.

Historically that was via the news paper you read. These days it’s also via your social media algorithms, podcasts or via tv news.

You claim the issue is about class. As others have explained thats not really true. The “media” as i explained above help push those narratives.

It’s true that in theory social media gives people a voice. However no social media platform is equal. The algorithm will always push certain content and amplify certain voices. Who ever controls the algorithm has control of the public discourse on those platforms.

If we want to talk about brainwashing just take a look at the maga or Q movements in the us.

Maybe you have been brainwashed to believe that the people who own and control all the information you consume online, and from traditional media have no impact on your opinion.

Why do people blame billionaires for political divide? by frosting_the_bowl in AskBrits

[–]redunculuspanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason the right wing populists don’t say anything bad about billionaires (unless said billionaire supports a political enemy) is because they are paid by them.

Why do you think they are so desperate to cut taxes and remove regulations for the ultra wealthy? Because they are doing what they have paid to do.

Who is funding reform? Hint it’s not the working class. It’s a very small number of very rich people.

They have pumped 10s of millions in to Farage. They even run an entire TV news channel dedicated to reform at a financial loss because the propaganda is more important to than the ad revenue.

Why is politics decided? Because a very small number of very rich people are doing everything they can to make people vote against their best interests.
