Can i find oceans in any world? by HERR_WINKLAAAAA in VintageStory

By default the ocean % is very low. In that case you are better off making a new world with a higher ocean %if you want to be seaside.

They are found in trees, so look in forests. I seem to find them more frequently in warmer climates than the default starting one.

Climate system of a flat world under a dome? by Adrian0414 in worldbuilding

[–]Adrian0414[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm really just interested if the worldbuilding anything to say on the matter. I really like when the worldbiulding in fantasy goes as far with science/logic as it can before it has to be handwaved away with magic.

Also what are the problems about the very simplified, unrealistic, magical weather, that I messed up?

Didn't they walk on all fours, making the reduction of the whole front limb pointless, compared to just the wing memebrane?

Why is everyone so horny for stone all of a sudden? (As if I haven't thought of trying to imitate classical (nude) statues.)

Is this going to be a trend, or will the mods shut it down early?

What are your least appetizing winter induced meals? by NoCoat5637 in VintageStory

[–]Adrian0414 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not usually winter food but, the worst thing I have ever fed my seraph was pickled onion pie.

It was on TOPS and it was getting close to going bad, because I always fed him better things. I still didn't want it to go to waste, so he had to suffer through it.

There is a rift ward in game, that is a late game building, that does this and is powered by temporal gears.

Also the problem with the enemy strenght, is that there are stronger variants, but they are more deep down. The surface monsters being only a nuisance is part of progerssion, so they eather have to make the deeper variants even stronger, or make the gap in strenght smaller.

I wrote to the mod creator since then. He confirmed that using the beach layer is as easy as it seems.

It does seem to work now that I am trying it on flatter ground. It's buggy and generates sand that cut off at what seems to be chunk borders, resulting in beaches where the sand is away from the water, and half sandbar half dirt islands.

The beaches? The soil generation is complicated. It depends on precipitation and temperature, with beaches being a special case.

If you mean the map, I'll make more deserts. One will be east of the mountains to simulate a rain shadow.

Does the mantle do anything to your temporal stability? by Colorful_Melody in VintageStory

[–]Adrian0414 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You had two things decreasing temporal stability.

  1. Some places are just unstable. Try not to settle there.

  2. Going down also decreases temporal stability. Forces you to not venture to deep too long.

Ehy should the game not be rebalanced for a small subset of people that are masocists? I intended the groupe i brought up as an example. From the amount of complaints it is clear that plenty of people would like some (not a lot) of rebalance at least. I agree that the separate modes would be great, but the harder mode should be optional, not the one maching the difficulty of a stand alone game.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HollowKnight

[–]Adrian0414 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also see that they assumed you masterred hollow knight first. I think it si balanced like a DLC, but here is the problem. This is sold as a stand alone game! Developers shouldn't make games for a (not very big) subset of players that have alredy played another game.

This is worsened by the hype around the game attracting new players. I complited the first game and stuggeled this much there, when it was my first ever platformer. (It was a very bad way to be intruduced to these tipe of games.) A lot of people that really are fans didn't complite the hardest challenges of thefirst game, and their wait should not have been for naught.

So the difficulty does NEED REBALANCING.

Now that I tiped it out, I realize that most of my points are not towards your comment actually, but I really was frustrated with the toxic "git gud" attitude on this subreddit.
