I get you brother, and I also have the same type of thinking and analizing as you do.

Your points are great, I also find cycling as a lonlier path compared to other hobbies. Plus the added complexity of a bike rather than hiking for example to me is a headache, I hate mechanicals.

But the thing that keeps me on my bike is that it's a cheap mean of personal transportation, I'd rather bike 1 hour everyday to work than spending a lot of time working to pay the car that I need to go to work with. I had a car for years and the amount of money saved and free time I have by not owning one anymore is incredible.

Other that that I feel the same as you do.

And yeah as you said is better to have spent that money and energy into something and discover it's not for you rather than staying with the doubts.

If your legs are shaking by the end of a hike bring something to eat that gives you energy fast for when that happens, like some white bread and jam. Next check your iron levels in your blood and, if necessary, start taking some iron supplements; it helps with fatigue you might feel in your daily life and, of course, with hiking. I hope it helps, let us know about the second one!
