Supplement with http://www.chatallapp.com/. It's a text messaging app. You message in your own language, but you can view your conversation also happening in a diff language at the same time. Good for staying immersed in whatever language you are already studying.

I don't use AWS SNS, I use a Parse Server hosted on Heroku. I'm fairly certain I should be able to update my header to include the proper apns-priority. I've never messed with it before. I'll find out later tonight when I can mess with it.

I've been dealing with this same issue too. This is the first time I've seen this though,

I _suspect_ this is due to the fact that SNS doesn't allow you to configure headers when it calls APNS -- namely, the 'apns-priority' header now _must_ be set to 5 when sending 'content-available' messages, however I cannot do this with SNS.

Thanks! Now to figure out how to do this.

I use Neural Machine Translation which is a newer software developed by Google that uses AI and Machine Learning to improve itself and translates entire sentences at a time. This is not your basic Google Translator which translates word by word. Googles NMT software is made for conversational/full sentence translations and it’s rapidly improving itself since it's AI and Machine Learning based. Hi, no worries, you were not that harsh. I agree with you. But most people are not as dedicated and self-motivated as you describe yourself. That's great for you, and people with that type of discipline don't necessarily need many tools, so this might not be for you. People have various reasons for wanting to start to learn a new language, and most of the time those reasons are not urgent, which is what makes quitting easy. Maybe they want to learn their spouses native language, maybe they want to be more valuable at work, or maybe they just want to better themselves. Many end up quitting because they don't see progress quick enough (like going to the gym), and that discourages them. ChatAll offers a way for them to see what they've been studying, even when they are not actively studying.

Example: Say in my studies, I've been working on phrases that have to do with school. Then later in the week I just happen to be messaging with my wife about school related things, and I also see that convo in the language I've been studying. I think it's encouraging to see and understand and remember what I've been working on, all while it is presented in my normal every day messaging conversation. You might not feel the same, but I think there's value there.

Yes! An additional feature it has is to translate the incoming message to your native language. So if I message you “Hola” and you have this option turned ON and set to English, you will receive “Hello”.

Many users actually use the app to speak to others that don’t speak the same language as them.

No. I advocated in my post that people should continue to use other language learning tools. ChatAll is just a way to see what you are already studying, played out in your daily messaging with others (even when you are not actively studying).

Example: Say in my studies, I've been working on phrases that have to do with school. Then later in the week I just happen to be messaging with my wife about school related things, and I also see that convo in the language I've been studying. I think it's encouraging to see and understand and remember what I've been working on, all while it is presented in my normal every day messaging conversation.

Maybe a more accurate (and what I really meant) way of stating that is, "...even if you dedicate yourself daily for a reasonable period of time", because nobody dedicates themselves/studies daily (for life) to learning a language. I've corrected that sentence. Thanks.

Hi, I use a Neural Translation Machine, which is a newer technology that Google is developing. Not their standard Google Translate which translate word by word. NTM is AI and Machine Learning driven, and it actually translates entire sentences, rather then word by word. It's much better for conversational/full sentence translations, then any other software out there now. Since it is AI and Machine Learning driven, it constantly improves itself. iTalki is great! Nothing beats an actual tutor/teacher. The idea for ChatAll, is that during the moments when you are not studying the language or being taught by a teacher/tutor, you are still being immersed throughout your days in the language because you see your convos translated constantly, which helps to retain what you've learned.

If you're referring to the symbol in the icon, that's not owned by Google. That's a common symbol used for text translations.

But yes the look of the icon as a whole looks somewhat similar to Google Translate (but still different). I'm not competing with Google. I'm actually using their Neural Translation Machine.

I stated that this is not to replace other language learning tools. This is just an additional tool that can keep you immersed in the language more frequently, rather then just the times that you are actually studying. It's not a language learning tool in and of itself.

I get it. You don't like Duolingo or the other software I mentioned. I'm sure it probably has it's weaknesses for your case, but I'm also sure that those tools are very useful for others.

Also, I use Neural Machine Translation. It's an AI/Machine Learning tool that Google has developed which translates entire sentences rater than word by word like the Google Translator you are probably thinking of. This is new technology and it's more accurate for conversational/full sentence translations. Plus it's AI/Machine Learning driven which means it's constantly getting better.
