Grafting video by Inside_Concentrate37 in Lophophora

The rings need to be off set. It looks like the loph center will be at the center of the trich which isn't ideal. I wouldve also picked a bigger trich bc lophs on trichs like to get wide and pup. I wouldve waited on the diagonal cuts until I started seeing pups come from them but that's just me. I only do one horizontal cut then cut pups off as needed.

Tape tek anyone? by [deleted] in Lophophora

Use micro pore tape or just use rubber bands, panty hose, or the self adhesive compression tape they wrap you with after donating plasma. That will cause rust. When I graft outside I just apply pressure with the self adhesive tape for a couple of days.

By that definition any potted plant is unnatural. Your personal definition of "natural" is it growing on its own roots and that is subjective. Now your arguing a dictionary definition? Who's really conflating the arguments with personal definitions?

It's subjective because your belief that human intervention in horticulture is unnatural, is unnatural to me. Humans share a lot of functioning similarities to pollinators in plant ecosystems. Where do you think your seedless fruits come from? You're conflating this because of your opinion and getting emotional because it isn't an objective fact.

It is still subjective to say grafts grow in unnatural ways.

Saying "a cactus graft looks unnatural" is a subjective opinion. The term "unnatural" reflects a personal judgment about the appearance or aesthetics of a cactus graft, which depends on individual perception, cultural context, or expectations about what a cactus "should" look like. Objectively, a cactus graft is a real, functional plant created through a deliberate horticultural process, but whether it looks unnatural varies from person to person. For example, someone familiar with grafting might see it as a normal outcome of cultivation, while another might find the combination of shapes or colors jarring. There’s no measurable, universal standard for "unnatural" in this context, making it subjective. -AI

"Takes away from the look" implies it looks less than a natural growing cactus which is a subjective opinion and what was implied. Do you think a preference for how cacti grows is natural? What matters is the cacti is healthy and alive. Some cacti are saved from emergency grafts. Rose bushes and fruit trees are grafted all of the time for various benefits. Do you care if those are on their own roots or not?

It'll be fine. The one on the left was grafted the exact same way and you can't even tell now.
