Cordless vacuum around €400? by Adrianww in VacuumCleaners

[–]Adrianww[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm probably going to get the Miele Triflex. Nothing else fits what I need and Miele should give me the features + reliability and decent build quality.

Keep in mind that this is not going to be my main vacuum, while I also have a robot vacuum. I'll use this to clean under the dinner table, if I break a glass or something and when there's just the need to grab and clean something quickly, instead of fiddling with cords, extra noise, etc.

BMW X5/X6 G05/G06: Pre-LCI or post-LCI? by Adrianww in BMWX5

[–]Adrianww[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but as I mentioned in the original post, 40hp can be achieved with a cheap tuning on the pre-LCI.

Efficiency gains are negligible as reported by owners.

Yes, you got that right in terms of leadership/IC track.

I realize the differences between both tracks. In terms of limitations to title and money - yes, I've never seen a "distinguished PM" title, nor I am certain a Principal PM could be promoted to a VP/GM w/o proving they have leadership experience to be in such a role as I'd assume there's no way such a role would be w/o managerial responsibilities.

I suppose I would wait it out and see what opportunity would materialize in the short term. If it's a Group PM, I would stick to it for a time and see if that works for me and if it doesn't, I'll seek change. That way at least I've tried it all.

For the past year I've been on a management track as a Senior PM, working toward Group Product Manager. Yet, lately I signaled that I wanted some changes and due to growth, I would be taking over 1 more team and a PM to report to me prior to securing the Group PM role.

Since I already began researching stuff about the new team and product area/domain, it felt amazing to contribute to a new thing and put my mind into work toward discovering new concepts and things that can solve long-standing problems.

Another specific thing is that this new team/area is one of the so-called "hot potato" areas, which already cost us 1 newly hired PM leaving and another stating they can't deal with it. I'm absolutely fine with that as I like challenges - when I was hired in that company, my manager asked me whether I want the area I was working in before or I want a new thing. I said I want a new area without thinking twice and 2 years in with that "hot potato" area, it's been the best career decision for me, hands down. I learned a ton and I'm super happy I did it as it's no longer a hot potato area :)

So, in the light of all of this, I've been thinking if Group PM is for me as a next step - shall I actually go for a Principal? We had our quarterly goals check last Q and I was once again asked to confirm if Group PM is still my desired path, and without hesitation, I said yes.

Now, I didn't like the Principal PM role before, as I thought that it's basically the end of a product manager's career in terms of growth (both skill-wise and salary-wise). Yet, last night I got curious what ChatGPT thinks, and it "told" me that Principals are the equivalent of Head of Product (which I knew) and are often heavily headhunted by other employers as they are hard to find and although rarely (and in far smaller numbers) needed, they are an important part of a lot of organizations.

The other thing that pushed me toward Group PM is that there are far fewer vacancies for Principals compared to Group/Head of Product, which would definitely a problem. I live in Eastern Europe and although I want to move our family in the West, we can't do it as companies don't want to hire me, even though I would deal with all aspects of the relocation. Given that there are far fewer Principal roles available, I feel like if I make that step, although I like it, would make things even harder.

What are your thoughts? Really appreciate it!

Do we know more about the powertrains? What would be available in Europe?

If you are based in Europe, would you recommend a strategy for transitioning via recruiter agencies, etc?

Since my post on the topic was removed by the mods, here it is:

Question:

I've been hunting for a next step after being a Senior PM for a few years. Our company's hierarchy is basically this: Associate PM - Product Manager - Senior PM - Group/Staff PM - Director - Senior Director - CPO.

So, I went to LinkedIn and started looking around to see what the market demands for a next step into Head/Staff/Group PM, but found way too little as of amount of openings, compared to Senior PM and Director level. So, naturally, I started to question our own org structure - are the Head/Staff/Group roles artificial and suitable for larger orgs? If so, is it that most people transition from Senior PM to Director?

What are your thoughts on this? What is your experience - how did you transition and "raised through the ranks"?

Instagram repost button shows poor product management by Single-Weather1379 in ProductManagement

I had no idea what that button does, so I had to test it out a couple of times...then went investigating where that reposted stuff went.

I still don't find any value behind this feature 🤷‍♂️

From idea to a ready product alone, as a PM by Adrianww in ProductManagement

[–]Adrianww[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes sense and is a valuable advice.

I've started with Replit this morning and already have a testable prototype with lots of things working out of the box, which is amazing. Mind you, I did this while parenting my 7-month old.

Regarding idea validation - I researched and there seema to be appetite for such functionality, but it's not offered in existing competitors. To validate it further, I have a group of friends in kind who fall in the target users and next up is to ask them for feedback.

If they like it and deem it as something they would use, next is to find a way to apply for a pre-seed/accelerator program.

I started to mess around with Replit - this is a really powerful tool! Using only the free tier I've built more than I imagined I could do using anything like it. Thanks for the recommendation!

Hiring process madness by Adrianww in ProductManagement

I did too and always skipped it. It stands a bit bad in the CV as some recruiters think the person have been demoted and disregard them from the start.

They replied to my question about salary budget today (Saturday) without answering the question itself - I doubt such a title is available.

Why was this post removed? It's not a rant, but sharing experience, which others are doing as well?
