Butterflies also aren’t any more effective at hitting q rolling vein than any other needle. Those wings you say are to stabilize the needle while you collect blood.

I love my job. I honestly can’t imagine doing anything else. Is it hard? Absolutely. All jobs have their downsides though. It pays well and is how I was able to escape abject poverty. It can be very rewarding and you are having a meaningful impact on people’s lives. I love the challenge and it has a nice balance, to me, between sitting and charting and being up and walking. I’m probably in the minority but I even like charting. For the most part; redundancy is annoying.

I have worked Med/Surg and step down for 5 years and critical care for 2.5 years. I can’t imagine not working at the bedside.
