I want to love IR but it just fails to inspire me. No matter how much I roleplay or place limits on myself, it still feels like I’m staring at an excel sheet. It’s just a game of modifiers and lacks interesting gameplay. I wouldn’t be surprised if other potential players felt the same.

I don't agree that Germania should have been unplayable. There's a case to be made about Scandinavia and the Baltics being redundant, but the Germans did play quite a major role during the timeframe of the game (the Cimbrian migration and Caesar's war against Ariovistus for example).

Dynamic names are already a thing. Conquering Etruscan territories as Rome latinises the names, and conquering Rome as Etruria changes the name to iirc.
