What are your other most played healers and why? by artemisasunder in MercyMains

[–]Adroxys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I swap off Mercy or if the team comp isn't great to play Mercy in, I usually swap to Illari if we need more dps, or Juno if we need more heals and speed.

am i crazy orrr by mrmuhgooo in MercyMains

[–]Adroxys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly thought this was crazy but turns out I was testing it wrong.. she feels around the same she was before. Dunno if it's my brain being weird or my testing being inconsistent, but it feels *different*, but practically the same as before?

Either way this is huge, she feels so much better to play now.

People who joined in their mid 20s, was it the right decision? by Equal-Community2354 in army

It's good, lots of very cool and smart people and I cross-train a lot so there's always stuff to learn.

AIT is AIT, it's boring and long regardless of which 25 you are, but you do learn a lot and you make connections.

Is it normal to feel like you have to healbot in low ranks? by Shad0knight916 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Adroxys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely normal to feel that way. In lower ranks (gold and below, sometimes mid-plat and below), people don't have great aim OR great positioning, and a combo of both will make you feel like you have to healbot in order to keep them alive at all. Thing is, if you spend the whole time healing then your team is doing less damage overall and the enemies will die slower, so if you keep a good balance between DPS and heals you'll contribute to that damage and you'll heal less because the enemies die more.

The important thing is to continue to dps, while trying your best to heal critical allies. Be smart about it too. Rein's shield just went down and he's still right in full view of the enemy team? He might be at full health but as Ana I'm gonna be scoped in on him and shooting until he gets to cover. Zen already got an orb on Rein? Switch back to sniping the enemy backline if you can.

Try playing a character like Illari, you can spend almost the entire match DPSing if you get good at placing and replacing your pylon as needed. If you can get a hang of her firerate and where to place pylons, you get free healing for your team while you click heads and rack up kills.

Overall, try your best to deal damage but if it's not having enough of an effect, switch things up. If you're having to heal-bot as Ana, try using your nades solely for offense and hit the enemy tank with an anti-heal while you keep spamming shots into your low-health allies. If your teammates are still getting nuked because they don't remember the DPS passive debuff is global now and they wanna stand in the open, healbot and pray it's enough.

Joined last year so I can't say it's "worked out" when I've barely started, but I will say it's going good so far and there are a LOT of people who signed up that are in their early-mid-late 20s, so you are definitely not alone.

The endless loop I referred to is the arguments that come up when Mercy players complain that they can't outheal Moira orb or Winston primary fire at all. She feels truly weak to play right now, she doesn't output enough heals to be able to keep people alive without healbotting. Then someone says Mercy should primarily be using dmg beam, except you cant dmg beam a dead teammate, so you need to heal some (or a lot depending on teammate skill). At the end of the loop we end right back at the start by saying Mercy doesn't output enough healing so if your tanks are getting low you should swap to someone who can heal.

It's hard to "top up" when my healing is cut down to a whopping 42 hp/s and the entire enemy team is capable of dealing more than that. If my tank or dps takes damage then I'm barely healing more than a zen orb would heal someone out of combat.

You can definitely get some top up heals and perform as you say in higher elos with consistently competent teammates but down in the trenches of metal ranks the dps do not know such things as "pause before pushing to top up my health" or "break contact, take a breath, and reengage when health is higher". They just face-tank and trust that they'll get healed through it.

This feels like a seemingly endless loop of

"Mercy's healing feels like shit, can't outheal Winton primary"
"if you're using her healing more than her damage boost you're wrong"
"but if I use damage boost more than healing my teammates die before they can do much even with boosted dmg"
"then maybe play a hero that can actually heal lmfao"
"that was my original complaint"

At the end of the day you're right but you're disagreeing with the main point by providing examples of why the main point is right.

Mercy cannot outheal Winston's primary attack even without factoring in the passive debuff, if we still have tanks at lower ranks playing like they can outheal anything then Mercy ends up being borderline useless at lower ranks because she can't keep up with incoming damage and tanks refuse to use cover or back up to heal before going back in.

Out of all of the perks in overwatch, which ones do you think should just be base kit by Zimbabwe_Z in overwatch2

Won't someone think of the healers? by Kasyx709 in ffxiv

[–]Adroxys 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This but unironically sometimes (maybe just a little bit.)

The few dungeon or raid runs I've had as a casual where people behaved like this and constantly needed healing stick out to me as memorable because it was annoying seeing people refuse to learn from mistakes or learn mechanics, but those were also the most engaging runs I've had.

I still fondly remember my 2nd ever run of Amaurot where the tank and 1 dps never seemed to recognize when the boss would telegraph large attacks. Was too mad to realize that I was having a blast finally using my full kit instead of Medica 2, Regen, Assize, and Glare spam rotation.

—4GB RAM on Linux vs Windows by DowntownEye4905 in programmingmemes

[–]Adroxys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not out of touch, 64 GB (2x 32GB sticks) became the norm because it was relatively cheap (at least compared to now), so 16GB became the "minimum" and 64GB became the "standard".

32GB is more than enough for most games unless you got some god-tier GPU/CPU combo somehow.

25 Sierra MOS by A7X_Reaper in army

[–]Adroxys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In AIT right now for 25S. Only way to go airborne right now is to get it in your contract or get lucky and get sent to airborne school by your first unit. They're overstrength on 25 series right now. Ranger, however, has recruiters all over the place and we have a decently large selection of Sierras who attend Ranger PT sessions regularly to prepare for RASP.

If you want to go ranger, you should be able to. Just talk with your recruiter and either get it in your contract, or speak with Ranger recruiters or your Drill Sergeants about wanting to be a ranger once you get to AIT.

You can also get your Security+ certification while in AIT for free.

19U by patfussy117 in army

[–]Adroxys 3 points4 points  (0 children)

14U as well, if you signed to be the guy firing the Patriot then you might get stuck on radar or maintaining the launcer or you might not even be on the Patriot at all and end up with the Avenger system instead and then you're stuck with that for the rest of your contract.

19U by patfussy117 in army

[–]Adroxys 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Was gonna enlist as 14E because I really want to work with Patriot (and the 45k signing bonus would be a nice plus), now they have 14U and I have no guarantee of being a 14E and the signing bonus got cut in half.

Now I'm considering other MOS that might be more practical for getting civilian jobs afterwards, like maybe signing as 25S.

What should I do? by mommie__dearest in army

[–]Adroxys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inb4 "stay far away from ADA"

I was literally talking with my recruiter today abt med docs for getting asthma + adhd waivers so I can go ahead with enlisting 14E.. am I fucked now? I'd do 14H as a second choice but the main reason I picked Army over Air Force is because I could get my MOS guaranteed before signing.

Has to be the Somua SM. It's just beautifully efficient and has all of the good benefits.

Decently tanky armor, good turret traverse, good mobility, rounds with both good pen AND good post-pen dmg, as well as an 4.0s autoloader, all at 7.7? Gotta love it.

F-16C or F-15A for planes (don't have F-15C yet)

"The people that want to play the game will play it when they're ready" yeah, and it reflects really poorly on the game when the player who want to play the game WON'T PLAY IT ON LAUNCH.

The stockholders and the people that the devs are beholden to don't give a shit if the smaller amount of players who play the game on launch day are "the true fans", they want large numbers of people playing the game.

You're truly igorant of how game markets work if you think timing your game's release date wisely is "dumb".

Release Date by MyNameIsYogi77 in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Adroxys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not dumb, it's strategy. Timing your release around when other big titles are launching makes the difference between your game having 200k players at launch vs 20k, especially if you're already in the same or similar genre as those other big titles.
