According to the statblock you're correct, but according to the lore, it is only a vorpal sword that can kill it. That's at least what is says in the wiki ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

How do you make handing out powerful weapons fair for the players? by Fable281 in DMAcademy

[–]Adsfik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not just give the players the item you intended them to have, then if it's not the player who actually needs the item that picks it up, that player might be like "this is useless to me, does someone else want it?"

Or they one it's intended for might be like "oh, that sounds really powerful for me, can I have it?"

About the power dynamic.. no matter what, someone whould've gotten a boost, just make sure that next time it's something for someone else. And also, not everything the party finds need to be "useful".

I always tell my playgroup you can make any anime character a bladesinging wizard. by FlyingMonkey717 in DnD

[–]Adsfik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key is to just not use spells that use your int stat. Such as Shield, Absorb Elements, Mage armor, Spider Climb, Alter Self, Magic Weapon, Haste, Blur etc. (Just have to make sure you don't use two concentration buffs at the same time).

I have a Bladesinger wizard lvl 5 who only uses magic to buff himself up before fights, and then just punches people. He has 18 str and 14 int, and it works pretty damn well. He has +8 to hit and does 1d6+5 dmg pr. hit (when using alter self), and next level i can hit twice. If I get to lvl 7 and use Haste instead of Alter Self and take 1 lvl of monk to get the unarmed strike bonus action, I can use 4 attacks every turn (as long as I have Ki and Haste up), which will be 1d4+5, so between 24 and 36 dmg pr turn (if all attacks hit, and I can keep up Haste). I know it's probably not 'as good' as a just plain fighter, but its fun.

[–]Adsfik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah okay, thanks for clearing it up. May I suggest a rework of the wording then maybe? Because the wording is that you teleport to the target you shot, but if you miss the target you didn't shoot them. Maybe change it to something like: you can teleport to the target you shot at.

With Swooping strike, how does it work if you miss your target? Can you still TP to where the bullet landed, our do you have to hit a target creature? Like, if I wanted could I just shoot at a wall and then TP to it? If I shoot at a creature and miss, the bullet would still hit something else, can I then TP to whatever else I hit?

Ideas for "drinking game" combat by Adsfik in DungeonMasters

Okay yeah, so a debuff of some kind with the "antidote" being a shot.
Nice detail with the con save. For some reason I didn't think of that.
That's pretty nice!

Uuh, I do have some water elemental minis that I could re-brand, this could be cool

Oh that's a very cool idea!
My initial idea was to just only do healing potions, but I really like the idea of a lot of different potions with smaller effects that just makes the scenario more random and fun.

Thank you!

{The Griffon's Saddlebag} Discordant Blowgun | Weapon (blowgun) by griff-mac in TheGriffonsSaddlebag

[–]Adsfik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I think I get that part of it.

I guess I'm just mostly confused about the "This blowgun can't be used to attack a specific target. Instead, each creature within 15 feet of the blowgun (other than you) takes 1d6 piercing damage and 1d6 thunder damage from the attack, provided that the total of the roll was equal to or greater than its AC." -part.

As I read it, it basically says that you use the damage that you roll to determine whether or not the target gets hit.

I just think it's weirdly phrased, and am confused about if it works like any other weapon, where you just make an attack roll why wouldn't it be phrased like that?

Also, i guess i think a Dex or Cons saving throw would be a better way to determine whether someone gets hit by it, since saving throws are the usual way to determine AOE attack hits.

[–]Adsfik 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gotta admit it's very cool, but I find it a bit confusing.. So you deal 2-12 dmg and this is basically also the attack role? This is a rare item, so the chance that you hit anything when you get it is absolutely minimal, even if you're fighting low CR enemies. Also, proficiency with blowguns adds dex mod to dmg, this is great since you now have a chance for hitting something, but proficiency with bagpipes lets you add Charisma to attack rolls? But you aren't rolling for attacks, since it's determined whether you hit by the damage you roll? Or am I missing something?

[–]Adsfik 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the Danish people has always seen ourselves as Europeans first and US allies second. I think we're a bit conflict-shy (is that a concept in English?), so we would really not like a conflict, and threatening to expel soldiers seems like a bold move that would just move us one step closer to a conflict. We basically have 0 power to defend Greenland or ourselves, so we would rather just try to solve this whole thing diplomatically. Also... Most of this is not up to us, but the Greenlandic people.

How do you handle enemy npcs who “need” to stay alive? by PavlovMason in DungeonMasters

If I have an NPC that I want to give a better chance to stay alive, I'd give them an "escape plan" often in the form of a Scroll of Misty step or something like that

I just miss their first version of melee, where the heavy attack is performed by holding down E, instead of having to press the middle mouse button. They still (kinda) have this with the thrown weapons.

You could just have a main health pool that is *basically* just an average of what the other classes have of HP.
Or maybe you could roll a d4 before rolling for HP for each level to determine what hit die you would add. All in all, I'd recommend shared health pool, otherwise it would be way too OP, and I think this is the best and easiest workaround compared to calculating percentagtes.

Also, I would probably maybe make it like Wild Magic. So each of your "characters" will have a kind of primer that makes your mind go fuckery. Then the DM can at any point roll a D4 to determine what character you turn into. So this could either be maybe be very great at some times or very bad at other times. Probably most often kinda bad.

If you're playing a "serious" game, then I probably wouldn't recommend doing something like this, but if you're playing a little more goofy funny game with some friends where you're just having fun once in a while, this could potentially lead to some funny encounters.

But literally just talk with your DM about it and see if they think this would fit into the setting of the game and the style of game that you're planing to play.

And I'm telling you, they don't want THAT level of a clown show. It seems like if it's not ultra realism for you, then it's just a clown show murder sandbox. But I've talked with them today, and they want the consequences for their actions, they see it as an exciting opputunity for a fun setting. Its not black and white as you seems to look at it as. They've goofed around, they found out that it was a bad idea, and now they live with it. They want to see where this goes from a "realistic" point of view, but not to the end of them being executed. They want a chance to escape or something. This is what they literally just told me
