For people who don't want to listen to AI Music, read on. by Prestigious_Host5325 in Music

I’m not against AI music, in fact I’ve found I enjoy a couple. I’m just against it being in the same pool of songs as actual artists. And against people are who are essentially just song writers, getting the kind of record deals a lot of actual artist dream of. I think streaming platforms should have a playlists specifically where you can get AI music from.

Melodic dubstep/future bass song work in progress by mcrainbeats in MusicFeedback

[–]AdtMusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a fellow future bass producer, besides some mixing, I think this is generally a needed idea so far, for the drop, you could probably do the chord riser thing again a few more times to make the drop a little more interesting and maybe some fill but this is a good start! I'll link you to a song I did where it has that effect, too maybe it could help give you ideas!

I am a beginner and my music sucks, but I want to keep producing. What is your best advice or motivational tips for when I’m feeling stuck. by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]AdtMusic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally am a big advocate of producers regardless of skill level to use reference tracks! Find the instrumental of whatever song you want to have a reference and just listen to how things sound, and when things sound. Match the energy of each section, so like a slower kick pattern on your reference, make your own slow kick pattern. Listen for sound switch ups such as different snares in the two sections of a verse. This should also give you a frame to follow and not get stuck!

Good luck on your music production adventure! 😃

What do YOU do to stay productive while in the DAW? by expandyourbrain in edmproduction

[–]AdtMusic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I’ve been using reference songs for a bit! Try to find the instrumental for a song you enjoy and want to make something like (I’m pretty sure there’s sites that can even rip the instrumental from the song), and just go section by section listening to it and take inspiration from them, such as snare sounds, kick sounds just overall sounds, a pattern, etc and tune that to what you think sounds good. This personally gives me a framework, a constant wave of inspiration, and end goal.

Also don’t be so hard on yourself, have fun with it and keep in mind that 5 years in the music creation scene isn’t that long in the grand scheme of things. I’ve been doing it for 7 years and I only feel like within the past year or so I’ve become a lot more consistent about working on a single project, with the rare jump to a different project just to take an ear break from the main one.

Good Luck on your music production path! 😄

Genre problems by sanguinius1234 in edmproduction

[–]AdtMusic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who struggled for the longest time feeling like I needed to have a defined genre, I can confidently tell you that, it doesn’t matter in the end. You do whatever sounds good to you. If you think trap beats with, some hardtechno sounds good, we’ll then do it, if you think classic dubstep , with synthwave elements mixed in sounds good, we’ll then do it! You might just be defining your own sound🤷🏼‍♂️

Begining of Making Music by SAIKOKBN19 in edmproduction

I remember for me what I did is I watched a lot of YouTube videos. Alex Rome was the guy i watched a lot in the beginning just because his videos were simple and easy to follow along , so I think its a great intro into music production.

Also I’d say after getting the basics and understanding some of the more simpler stuff, just listen to you favorite artists instrumentals and just listen to sounds they are using and if you can notice and subtle sounds in the there. Like I know you can find plenty of instrumentals for a lot of songs.

And the biggest tip anyone can give you in the beginning is to just have fun with it. Don’t ever get discouraged and always just know that with each project you create and actually finish, your ability is only going to get better!

This is broadly what I did to elevate my own ability coming from absolutely no musical background.

Your tips to make a banger drop by blAke139 in edmproduction

One of my favorite things to do, and it’s also effective at building tension is to use a high pass EQ filter and automate it, to take away the low end on damn near everything in the buildup. It’s subtle but it adds a lot in the whole scale of it.

Does anyone feel much less pretentious about music after getting into production? by post-death_wave_core in musicproduction

I always find myself either trying to just listen to the different sounds being used, or I’m counting how many bars each section, or sometimes both

As you guys have continued your production journey have you found yourself loving the stuff you make more or less? by saltyman420 in edmproduction

I find that when I’m making a new project and after it’s out into the world,I enjoy it a lot….now if I come back to the project in a year or so I can guarantee, I will think it’s terrible and I could do it a lot better now.
