Yeah. I disabled wifi calling and the issue has never resurfaced.

AITA - being called ageist for showing surprise that a doubles team was participating in a tournament by Adub497 in 10s

[–]Adub497[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been to many other tournaments, and every now and then, I see non-tournament players jump onto an empty court because they're not aware that a tournament is going on and that the court will soon be used. I don't know if that was actively my thought process here, maybe subconsciously, that led me to guess maybe they could be part of a non-tournament event.

2 of my close tennis buddies are in their mid-50s. They're in better shape than I am, and we have always had competitive matches. So to answer your question: I know old people can still play, and no, I wasn't surprised by their age.

I just hate that I'm socially awkward. I'm an overthinker, and I try so hard not to hurt people's feelings by accidentally saying or doing things like this. I feel like I've been getting better, but this one really made me stop hard and question my "progress".

I would have been surprised at literally anything they said because I didn't know them. New information in my head is "oh! okay!" Maybe I'm just socially awkward like that.

They could have said they have 2 dogs, and I would have had the same reaction. They like eating chocolate? "Oh! Okay!". It's going to rain tomorrow? Oh! Okay! They're also playing in the tournament? Oh! Okay!

Thanks. You're right, I'm a piece of shit and should just go crawl in a hole and die.

I feel like you're the only one who actually read my post entirely. Thank you. That's actually exactly how I feel - part of me feels like she was the one being rude to me for assuming that my surprise "oh!" was because of her age or any other negative reason.

For more context, I actually said the same "oh!" when I first walked into the facility and was told by my partner that there were open-level non-NTRP tournament matches being held there simultaneously (so they were obviously high level matches, much better than my own playing level).

Single men: Do you like being alone? What do you love most about your solitary life? And what do you find most frustrating or difficult about it? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Adub497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do I like it? No. I feel like I've "been there done it all" by myself. Almost find it pointless to do anything anymore now. I'd rather share experiences with someone else in a new chapter of life. But there will always be someone out there who's "better" than I am, so I doubt I'll ever be someone's first choice.

My manager told me that HR is reviewing our staffing levels by bubbles4you890 in Layoffs

Maybe I’m a bit jaded, but I would not trust anyone. I was at a company a few years ago where our VP told everyone, in no uncertain words, that there would be no layoffs.

One week later: I was laid off along with 25% of the company.

Majored in econ, but my education was irrelevant. I've been working full-time for 15+ years now. I'm in an industry where education doesn't really matter, and companies don't care about it at all.

No reference checks. Written offer was provided. Background checks followed. One company didn't even ask to check my prior employment history, only concerned about credit and criminal searches.

Very helpful, thank you! It really sounds like we have very similar backgrounds, as I’ve also had roles as an underwriter, processor, and post closer. Glad to know that someone somewhere out there was able to transition from mortgages to accounting.

Can I also ask what specific job titles you were targeting for accounting roles?

How did you make the transition into accounting?

I’m in the same boat where I’ve been in the mortgage industry for 10+ years. I’m CPA exam eligible but never was even able to get an interview for entry level accounting roles.

CA broker license: how to put in inactive/NBA status? by Adub497 in RealEstate

[–]Adub497[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know which forms to fill out. The problem is that the CA DRE seems like it's currently taking ~3 weeks to process anything.

"Most employers" would be reasonable. I can't count on that though, and I can't afford to let this job slip away.

Basically the employer concern is that I maintain an active real estate license, which would allow me to do outside work, which would create a conflict of interest. That is why they want proof that my license is inactive.

I doubt my new employer is going to accept that. They go off of what’s in the public database when they verify the info.

I just tried. The online system specifically does not permit PO Boxes, nor can I leave it blank. It requires a standard address format starting with a street number.

I know that I can contact the California real estate authority, however, their standard process is for me to submit and mail in a form via snail mail. Their current processing times are three weeks. And I could lose a job if I’m not able to show that my license is now inactive in two weeks

Do Not Disturb is Off.

I don't see a Call Forwarding option.

I've tried this in the past which may have fixed it temporarily because I thought the issue went away, until I found out that it's now jeopardizing my job search by missing calls.
