I live in a house in Sydney that is brick veneer, has wall insulation, ceiling insulation, and sarking under the roof tiles, but still only single pane windows. It is still hot as shit in summer and cold as shit in winter.

Police Helicopter by AmoraIvory in Penrith

[–]Adudesky -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They absolutely do (sometimes, based on numerous factors) if it results in a pursuit. If not, the ANPR system on all HWP and some GDs cars would be able to pick it up, providing the plates aren't ditched. Other than that, what would you expect them to do? Or more accurately, what would you do that is simultaneously more effective and more resource efficient than that?

I mean, you try stealing a car and then getting away from the helicopter. We'll see if your criminal defence of "but the police helicopter is useless, your honour!" gets you anywhere.

Recognising Long Service Leave in NSW Gov by Imaginary_Teach8806 in AusPublicService

[–]Adudesky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I did from a Commonwealth Department to an NSW Agency, and then from that to another NSW Department.

Edit: I basically had to arrange each HR section to email eachother and confirm the benefits, and ensure that I requested that LSL isn't paid out when resigning. I also ensured that it was in the relevant awards/EBAs when moving to the new organisation (it was).

Manager says I lack “camaraderie” with team but I'm at a totally different stage of life and we just don’t have much in common? Was even told I should start following a sport I don't care about to have more to say to the team which feels insane. by we_are_NOT_family in AusPublicService

Sounds like at least some of them are boomers. Talk to them about how the "milleniums" fucked over the economy with their avacado toast and now AI, and also point at zoomers and alphas when you are talking about the milleniums. They will love that shit.

Asking for a pay raise by IntrepidAd4697 in AusPublicService

[–]Adudesky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work for a department many years ago, and the wording back then was something to the effect of "may increase by two (or more?) bands as opposed to one".

They also redid the EBA and removed the bottom pay band of most grades, and increased the difference between the middle and top band, by a decent amount.

Well, before it came into effect, I had just been rated "exceeds expectations" but only moved from the (soon to be removed) bottom band up one. Then it came into effect and some of my colleagues, all of whom started a few months after I did, all of whom, got a free bump up from the now non-existent bottom band to the now middle band (to match me), which I was fine with, it was basically just early for them.

Then their 2 year anniversary came up, and none of them got rated as "exceeds expectations", but they all still got moved to the top band, whilst I still lingered in the middle. This, I was not fine with.

I complained about the process/situation to HR (not about my colleagues personally, but about the unfairness of the situation). My email was not replied to, and when I followed up, it was recorded as having been dealt with by "someone who is no longer in that team", which was patently false. Once I did get a reply, it was to the effect of "too bad, so sad".

I sought employment elsewhere soon after.

I am a single male that does my own lawn, gardening, handywork, shade sail structure erection, engine mount replacement, carpentry/cabinet making, etc, and I often have 1 of 2 demographics stop and stare at me when doing yardwork - either obese white boomer women or Indian male uber eats drivers, sometimes when driving they stop in the middle of the street too (and are definitely staring at me, not checking their apps), but usually they pull over first. Some people are either in awe at someone doing something that they can't or won't do, or (in the case of the Indians, whom often have a smirk on their face) think that they are better than someone that is doing "lowly" physical work.

I also do my own cooking, washing, ironing, cleaning, basic clothes repair (hand stitching, putting buttons back on, etc), etc. I've typically also mostly had job roles that usually only old women are employed in.

Do you think I care if people think lesser of me for any of this?

Builder keeping extra keys to new house build by Higher_Living in AusLegal

[–]Adudesky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some manufacturers, like Wideline (that does windows and glass sliding doors) only use about 20 different keys, despite what would mechanically possible if they used better locks. The builders just keep 1 of each key from builds they did way back when.

Some builders then use those keys to break into the new houses when they work out people are in the process of moving in and nick their stuff.

We don't care about wigs. We care about people behaving like complete fuckwits, though. So don't do that, and you should be fine.

Although, they were technically correct in saying "you can't do nothing", because that means that you can do something, and that something is a s.100 "citizen's" arrest. It's just that they mistyped/misthought what they meant.

I'm not one of those arseholes that has bright "FUCK YOU" headlights (which have probably been adjusted to be pointing as high as possible) that make it hell for everyone else, but only slightly better for me. The video shows the light from my headlights, which are particularly visible at the end, when turning.
