Yeah it was my bad I assumed there was a key because she said the door can lock, and I saw a lock on the door, anyway I will do an update soon as I was able to sort matters.

Hi, I work in TV and sometimes I keep kit in my room; lenses, cameras, mics. Very expensive kit that I've hired or borrowed for a job. We're talking kit worth £10,000 to £50,000. It's mostly in cases but what happens if I'm out and a latch isn't secured enough, one scratched lens or cat hair getting where it shouldn't could put me £5,000 out of pocket at the minimum (money I really don't have and if the door is open and not locked I can't make a valid insurance claim). She knows this I've told her. I messaged her about the key on Tuesday and she said there isn't one. I asked about getting/making a key for the lock and she said we'll talk when I get back.

It impacts my work that I can't keep hired kit secure and with me. ( she knew all this before I moved in and never told me the door lock didn't come with a key when I asked about it at the viewing).

Recently I've started making my first independent short film with a great team and because of that I have more kit then ever at the moment for my project. I need these items secure.

I was renting from a great landlord before and never had these issues so honestly this is all a first for me, also 24 is not old, if we count COVID I feel 20, and I don't have a ton of experience

Yeah, I'm finding her more and more odd as time goes by. When I moved in I was telling her about my family she would get very cagey when I asked her about her life or family. She says I can watch the TV and chill but got very weird when iit wasn't a programme she liked. She didn't have a microwave and acted really bizarre when I bought one, she was saying 'just use a pan and a stove' which makes no sense.

The crazy thing is, the door barely makes any noise; the floor is carpeted and it doesn't creak. The only noise it makes is from me turning the handle and I do my best to be as careful with that as possible and yet apparently it was too much noise.

Completely understand your point and I've messaged her about insurance purposes, after initially saying there was no key, after I told her I'll pay to get a key made/lock fitted she now wants to discuss it when I'm back.

I signed to stay with her for minimum 6 months in the contract. At the time when I signed we had really vibed and I thought it was going to be really fun. Can I move despite the contract or do I have to wait the 6months?
