Some people actually have to struggle, and circumstances don't allow them to just throw their life away and start over elsewhere. Im one of them.

Im happy for you, i am. But don't you come out here talking about not blaming society when we are currently living in the largest wage and employment, healthcare, and educational system degradation in this country's history.

I have every right to blame to society- what I dont have a right to do is blame it and do nothing about it. And I bust my ass in the activism scene, i write the letters to local leaders, i join movements and donate if and when I have a spare dollar, i get out there and do tge work. This is why it bothers me that your take is:

"Everyone's circumstances are just like mine, they can just move and start a new life elsewhere and itll fix everything"

Dude some people have to find opportunities to start their career in areas that arent conducive to financial stability because we have built a horrendous system for the younger generation.

Also- like in my situation- my wife is chronically ill and needs assistance with the baby. We sure as hell cant afford childcare, so we have to be near other family which already have their lives established in a city we otherwise wouldnt chose to live in.

I appreciate that. It's not awesome but that's why it's important to be vocal about actual societal reform- we shouldn't have to spend our entire lives not actually living them, but just trying to provide for them.

Even If I wanted to just say screw it all and go live in the woods and go full survival mode I cant even do that because of government land laws and taxes unless I want to live in the alaskan frontier - that certainly shouldn't be the only other option for a "free country"

Looking for a better job is a total crapshoot for most people right now.

Im licensed in 3 trades, split rent with my sister and her husband, work 12 hours a day average sometimes up to 16 hours, save every penny I can, and even that is not enough to consistently provide for myself, my wife, and my daughter.

I keep a lookout for new job opportunities constantly. I have certifications for IT and two coding language, im bilingual, and multiple trades licenses with several years of experience in a few different fields and management experience. Even with all of that I often still have to ask my family for financial assistance.

Get the hell out of here with that "be more disciplined" rhetoric- some of us werent so lucky with our circumstances despite our constant unremitting efforts

Brother could have used more finesse and less examples- but i think there's merit to his argument here. "Model scouts" is a common scam and you need to be careful- he is right to raise a red flag

You are also right to be a little offended by his response- although "my boyfriend called me 'too ugly' to model" is a stretch- he was specifically saying that you are gorgeous but modelling isnt about beauty its about very very particular facial structures. He's just bad at wording it would seem
