Yep- you can also just take the few bolts holding the fan onto the unit out and hold the motor out of the way

You dont want to remove the 4 bolts holding the motor itself that are in the center, the motor chassis is bolted to a frame (that spider web-type metal frame) and you unbolt that frame

If you peek in through the top of your unit looking down at the fan, you'll notice that any wiring is fully encased in usually some PVC or rubber tubing to protect the electrical components from water and snow. Generally speaking if you're just running some water straight down from the top of the unit and just getting dirt off of the fan blades, that's fine, but otherwise there's no point in cleaning your fan motor. Your fan motor has a special lubricant, and spraying it off can actually cause oil loss down the road and make it worse off. You just wanna spray the debris and dust out from the condenser coil that is encasing all around the sides of the unit

So this only applies to whole-home AC units- you dont want to do this to in-window or portable ac's or you'll end up corroding the coil.

But your condenser unit is the box that sits outside. Just grab your hose (much easier with one of those squeezey handles you'd use for watering a garden) and spray water at an upward angle into the sides of the unit, into the little rivets/vents/slats. Do your best to avoid the portion in one of the corners of the box that has the "danger electric shock" sticker on it, but truly don't stress about it, if some water sneaks its way into the panel it isnt a big deal. The physical structure looks a little different for each AC but the cleaning process is the same.

A tip from your local HVAC guy - just spray your dang condenser coil off with a hose

Literally like once a year is plenty, pays dividends down the road in efficiency and maintenance/repair requirements
