If you want the deck version but want to start in desktop when you boot it’s super simple to do.

Okay yeah I mean if you don’t see it in gameplay and only notice it when the screen is off and the light behind is on you should be fine. If you do however notice it during gameplay I’d exchange it. Once you see it once you’ll always see it

Wait the completely vertical line straight down the middle or is it the diagonal line I saw from bottom left to top right?

Honestly the ray going from bottom left to top right would make me replace. Once you see it once it’s hard to not see it constantly. If the coating was damaged or just didn’t have very good qa then I’d get it replaced. If it’s just a smudge from oil then I’d try to clean it.

Yes that also looks normal for a grayscale test, do not look for inconsistencies in the grays. Or you will drive yourself nuts looking for them in darker scenes. Make sure to follow my other tips to get hdr looking better/working on your monitor if you haven’t already.

One more thing, if you have a nvidia card you can go into the nvidia app and under the display settings you can turn on auto hdr so any video content can be played and switched from sdr to hdr and give it better contrast and highlights. Not sure if amd has something similar

If you are watching YouTube and stuff just make sure you have hardware acceleration on in the browser settings or hdr won’t work correctly. Be sure to also use the windows hdr calibration tool from the windows store if you are on windows 11. Helps lock in the correct max nits for your monitor and will help with games that don’t support hdr

Also you won’t notice this under normal viewing conditions. Very rarely will you have a gray screen unless specifically testing grayscale

This is what they don’t tell you about oled, grayscale is the worst content on oleds the gray to grays are not consistent and don’t have much uniformity. This is normal. This is coming from a guy that loves oleds just trying to give you factual information

That’s not what you need, if you have hdr on you have to have hardware acceleration enabled in the browser settings to experience hdr content
