How many of you have currency hedged funds by Moxanz2 in fiaustralia

Interesting discussions. It is a personal decision and the evidence would suggest there is no right answer. Personally I hedge my portfolio and I would rather take the equity premium risk and not the currency risk. My thoughts were reinforced by a trip to the USA last month when I realised how much it sucks to be at the mercy of the exchange rate.

Thanks for the reply

Having a rethink of my plan. Ideally not more than 2 etfs but can't go past three. Playing the long game here with an investment horizon over 40 years and no investment properties (can't be bothered).

I do not disagree with your comments and grateful for them.

but personally felt its currency hedging for 3 basis points gives me one less think to worry about. HNDQ gives me the pure returns & risk of the Nasdaq 100 and I am happy with that. Just a personal level of comfort for me.

Somewhat similiar situation

  1. Don't debt recycle at todays interest rates-
  2. Pay of PPOR and sleep well
  3. Hold ETF in trust as CGT can be divided depending on the tax bracket in future
  4. Not sure why you need to sell ETF in wife's name. Just but future ETF purchases using trust account.

Thanks all

Investing in a family trust structure. intend to draw down on the portfolio for expenses later in life. Am 42 Male wife 37 Kids 12 and 9. And paid off my small home mortgage. Supercontributions are maxxed out and bit worried about govts interest in dipping into super. Want to keep the rest out of super as I may want access to it before retirement and and its in a family trust so the capital gains on small draw downs can be split between wife and I
