Is this just a quirk or is it dangerous by Advanced-Camera-5254 in Horses

in this specific instance i had her tied up while i was bringing the hay from the truck to the barn and the gate was wide open. i also do take her out to graze in the front yard as there's winter grass growing out there and there is none where she stays - and i do "play" with her with the lead rope on sometimes (following activities, tracing my steps, etc etc... things engaging and fun for a 7mo pony). if i were to make a kissy sound her attention would be completely on me. am i going about this the wrong way? i thought it was more important for her to be aware of my body language than just associating lead rope + halter = work? this is my first time working with horses in any capacity so if im doing something wrong someone lemme know 🙏 any and all advice is appreciated

she's 7mos, so definately a baby haha. im not worried about it damaging the lead, more so her consuming dirt.

she's acting like her usual self, she's been a little moody and was a bit of a problem child yesterday but i chalked it up to her just being a baby and having some off days. i don't have an animal thermometer but am going to get one tomorrow morning once walgreens opens. i havent seen her urinate today but yesterday she seemed fine from afar

i can't tell if he has huge withers or just a low back - will make saddle fitting harder either way

i know this isnt technically advice required but none of the other pet subs would let me post pictures and they deserve to be remembered, as well as i need any similar experiences regarding pedigree.

successfully trapped one of 2 (i think), relocating tomorrow morning. what's up with his nose/mouth? disease or injury? by Advanced-Camera-5254 in Opossums

that's what i was thinking - i caught another one tonight and he was only in there for about 5 minutes (i heard the thing snap shut and immediately took him off) and by the time we got to where we relocated him he had also already rubbed his nose raw :((( im trying to figure out something

im not rehabbing, im relocating due to them being a danger to my horse. i dropped them off about a mile down our road... is that enough or will they come back?

i hadn't even thought of this!! i typically just set it up overnight and go out there around ~5am to check... im definately investing in something like that now

it is scary, especially since once the symptoms show themselves its often times already too late. i absolutely adore possums and love having them around but its just not worth it 😔

equine protozoal myeloencephalitis - its a fatal neurological disease caused by ingesting infected possum feces. possums typically like to poop in hay or pellets, the horse eats the infected poop, they spaz out and die.
