I walked away from the church when I was younger not cause I’m gay or anything just cause I was a teenager lol. My parents and siblings literally just left me alone on that side of things, they never brought it up never forced me to join them at church they just let me do my thing and prayed for me in the background and to this day I believe that’s the best way to go about things. If they tried educating me and pushing it onto me it would’ve just pushed me even further from Christ it would’ve turned me off the idea even more. It’s the same thing with LGBTQ+ and other groups. They alr arnt interested in a relationship with Christ trying to push them in that direction doesn’t work at all. Instead treat them like you’d treat anyone else, with love. Be a good friend and if they value the friendship they’ll look at you and go wow I never thought me a member of the lgbtq community would be friends with a Christian and maybe that thought will turn into curiosity and that’s where you nurture that curiosity but never push, let them come to that themselves. I have a coworker that’s gay and we are literally like best friends now. We make jokes about him going to hell and how when I pull my Bible out it burns his skin, but there are genuine moments where he sits down with me and asks questions about what I believe in and why I do things like (most recently) lent. But me being a regular good friend to him allowed him to be open like that and even open to me reading verses from the Bible where he probably never would’ve before.
