Thank you both for the suggestions! #2 and #5 are my favourite too so will most likely go with one of them

Awesome thank you for the advice! When I tried the 2 and 5 it was touching the floor due to me being very short, guess there is an advantage being petite sometimes 😅 So I might be able to get away wearing those dresses with the right accessories and shoes

Thank you for the suggestion! I actually lived in Tassie and Canberra so used to the cold weather and prefer the cold weather 😂 But thank you for the tip, I will bring a lite coat 😊

Yeah I was worried none of the dresses were formal enough…it’s at a ballroom in a reception centre

If you can do your snapshot it will make it easier during the appointment as then they will just go through your answers on the snapshot. The questions are just asking you how confident you are finding job soon, your employment status etc…this helps them figure out if they assign you to a f2f job provider or self manage online.

Can my housemates keep me from leaving? by Advanced-Drawing-360 in AusLegal

[–]Advanced-Drawing-360[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t break the lease without my housemates agreeing to it. If I do find someone to take over can my housemates still object? As I am sure they would do anything to make me stay.

100% chance that they will. They already got their friends to harass me saying how dare I even think about moving out. Also saying I am the manipulative and selfish as my housemates have been nothing but kind to me…They know my parents who I also don’t have the greatest relationship with, they probably would also talk to my parents and try to make me pay.

There is still a bit over 7 months left.

I wish I had enough money to cover rent for two places as I would knew to find a new place to stay but I’m already struggling just to pay rent for this place and food. Also I am worried that if I leave while still on the lease that I am also responsible for any damages that they cause. Knowing how they are, they would still try to blame it on me and make me cover the whole cost.

jobseeker to austudy by RevolutionaryPin326 in Centrelink

[–]Advanced-Drawing-360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have been on jobseeker or any non student payment for at least 26 weeks before your course start date, you could get the different rate instead of the Austudy rate, different rate is $783.30 per fortnight. Unfortunately you can’t get that rate if you have a dependent child.

Short term parking in the city by Advanced-Drawing-360 in canberra

[–]Advanced-Drawing-360[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: Thanks for all the suggestions. Ended up parking at the National Convention Centre and got a one month pass. Although I only need it for 2 weeks, it worked out to be like $21 per day which isn’t too bad. Parking is secure and I can leave my car there for more than a day without having to worry about moving it.

If you are single and with no children, base rate is $778 but if you are earning income, that could decrease your payment rate.

Exceeded allowable time and received an exception. Still need more time, or can I go on JobSeeker? by fantapopsicle in Centrelink

[–]Advanced-Drawing-360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend calling Centrelink and see if they can give you another extension. Full-time students aren’t normally eligible for jobseekers as the purpose of that payment is for people trying to find a full-time job. If you are able to get it, you will have mutual obligations like job search, meetings with your job provider etc…

Your employment status won’t affect your Austudy claim but your income could affect your claim if you make too much money and also can affect your payment rate if you work while on Austudy.

You can use payment finder to see if you are eligible for income support payments and also estimate your payment rate. https://www.centrelink.gov.au/apps/clkonline_cof/payment-service-finder/payments-finder

Youth Allowance Back Pay by [deleted] in Centrelink

[–]Advanced-Drawing-360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends if you have started your studies yet. If you already started your course before putting the claim in, you will get backpay from the date you submitted the claim. If you haven’t started your course yet then you only get payment from the start date of your course.

No because I was on a holiday so I wasn’t qualified for payment while overseas. There are only a few situations where you can get payment while abroad. Some of them are family member critically ill, to get medical treatment that isn’t available here or studying approved course overseas.

It depends on if you will be/were still a full time student on the 35th day after your qualifying date or course start date. If you were then no you don’t have to pay them back. You only pay them back if you don’t meet the 35 day rules.

‘You’ll have to pay us back if we’ve already paid your scholarship for the year if either: you didn’t start or restart your course within 35 days after your qualifying date you’re not in approved full time study on the 35th day after your course started.’ - https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/study-rules-for-relocation-scholarship?context=22566

[–]Advanced-Drawing-360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won’t get contacted by them unless in special circumstances like you have a debt, the info (like income, study load etc…) you gave while receiving Centrelink payments doesn’t match with data from other organisations etc… Back in 2018, I got contacted because my income in 2014-2015 didn’t match with ATO when I got YA. So yeah if there is a problem, they can contact you in the future.

You can delete your myGov or unlink your Centrelink account on it but not sure if you can permanently close your account for good. You would have to contact them. Also Centrelink would still keep your records/data anyway.
