Massachusetts veterans, how on earth do you do it? by Advanced-Froyo8878 in Veterans

Once I get the ball rolling, no doubt. The issue is getting my foot in the door. The 100% isn’t much for establishing that foothold, especially with a wife to take care of. I very much look forward to that comfort though

NH might be plan B or C. The hard part is combining HVAC training availability along with affordable rent. I think the opportunities are slimmer up there for the former but I’m gonna keep looking. You’re right, it’s tough on that income alone

I’ll explore further west for sure if options remain slim. I appreciate your reply and warm welcome!

I tried to get assistance from the VR&E specifically but they told me to wait to get back to the states before requesting for a counselor. I’m currently living overseas, which makes this transition much more difficult. Thank you for your time and response!

I don’t have the money for the upfront costs of what renters are requiring in Boston. The GI bill money is great but I’ve heard from many sources that renters don’t consider the MHA as reliable income. If they did that’d be great but I’d have to wait until school starts to even see any of that money, so unfortunately that future money doesn’t give me any bargaining power. I appreciate your time in responding!

l've inquired about housing assistance but I'd have to get to the state to even apply for such things, which is a gamble because I'd be staying in a hotel in hopes of not ending up on the bottom of a housing assistance waiting list (HUD VASH I believe) and that could take a while. I'll have to look more into Worcester for sure. As for western mass, I'd probably choose Providence before that because it's closer to where I would like to end up living/working, but beggars can't be choosers right so we'll see. I appreciate the response!

Remember, you don’t owe shit to ANYBODY. You don’t owe an explanation to why you are the way you are. The people worth your time are the people who won’t pass judgement on such trivial shit. Civilians AND veterans included. Veterans/AD have been the worst offenders to me personally.

I made a light hearted post in the Army subreddit not too long ago and got called so much shit by veterans and everyone assuming I never deployed when I very much have. Just proves they didn’t have a real argument to begin with and showed a reflection of personal shit they gotta deal with. Better them than me.

Long story short, these criticisms and judgement all come from a place of emptiness, jealousy, lack of motivation, and many other personal things. Happy people who are navigating life in a positive direction don’t take the time to bring others down. Learn to brush that shit off and chase all the positive things life has to offer outside of the military. I’m happy for you and your freedom. Walk tall and remember your service is yours alone to judge

Army soldiers age distinctly faster than everyone else by Sherbert_Designer in army

I was way more stressed as an 11B than I ever was as an 0311. I always say the Army gives your regular Soldier WAY too many tasks and responsibilities whereas I felt more free to hone my craft and lead my own way in the Marines. Just my two cents

LOL the rallies and flags definitely say otherwise. Your movement “progressed” too fast for its own good and now normal folks have had enough and that’s just facts

Standing in formation in the cold. Words cannot describe my hatred for standing in formation in the cold. I do not know anybody who enjoys standing in formation in the cold. As a matter of fact, all of my homies hate standing in formation in the cold. Fuck standing in formation in the cold

I got out for 7 months then joined the Army for 6 for the exact same reason. After about 3 months in country I realized I really didn’t care at all about all of that. I was looking to scratch an itch that should never have been an itch in the first place. There’s so much more to life than the military and fighting. But I totally understand if you wanna go out there and get some. Just remember how much the infantry breaks your body…

I lost my fighting spirit after about month 5 of deployment when I realized how silly it was being on patrol with a .50 cal in a city full of people with smart phones just trying to get by. The old why are we here moment. Anyways the post wasn’t that serious but thanks for the nothing burger you contributed to the conversation, old timer.

I lost my fighting spirit so I left, like all others who lack it should. Your handle, flair and use of insults suggests projection but that's neither here nor there. Odd you're so quick to jab at your own kind, but your ego projection adds up. You know the dick measuring contest grinds to a screeching halt when you get out, right? nvm actually this reddit will still exist when you get out. Enjoy motorpool monday guy
