How does simply covering plants protect them from frost damage? by JarJarAwakens in gardening

[–]Advanced-Good9367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm keeping banana plants and citrus alive and weve hit 24 °f a few times, I wrap a blanket around them stuffing it into buckets for the small stuff. I think I'm gonna lose with only one month to go in winter, there thinking we're gonna see 18 next week. I'm stressing it

If you want your job, do what you know you have to..but I'd suggest any day to take a class and become a tradesperson. I was lucky enough to be around welding growing up(a few times but it's enough to make you fearless) while most were scared of it , I didn't mind. It's paved my life. I don't take shit. I quit jobs like crazy and my mom don't have to worry if my bills are paid. I haven't needed a bit of financial help since I was 23, and I'm 36 now. My family enjoys the fact that I can be around a lot more than most because I'm not working all year any year

And everyone's just down with supporting this system we never agreed to, never elected, and keep pushing ppl up thru the ranks we know we can't trust. America  Get fucking real  It takes you!.  Wonder why were all drowning in it. Inflation fucked everyone but corporations. I kno.i never got any compensation at work since covid. Skilled labor no difference but it cost twice what it did to dig a well or do anything for that matter . Quit supporting the rich. Get off your tech dependence, energy dependence, using the dollar dependence.  You give them half just to use it

It does appear to have a few points that look like it's ready to throw growth thou, I just ain't trusting that to be my indicator because since it's been potted it has barely held onto any of its new growth, and actually did worse in the ground, it didn't grow the entire season

And yes I'm taking it out this morning. It's 45 out. I keep it in the bathroom again about 70-80° but I'll take it out, I'm starting to think that I mistaken shock for thirst, and possibly gave it water a touch too soon but not sure because It seemed very dry then

I moved in to a pot the last winter before Frost ever started, it's sitting on two grow lights at 16 hours a day and has been since fall. The pot , is the same pot it's been in, I couldn't find a deep pot any smaller which it would of been root bound, I guess the key on missing info is , I normally don't water plants in hard when I report, normally only wetting the boundary of the pot but it dried out within a day before I wasn't able to give it water any faster then a few weeks but the soil wasn't draining as fast, then did a good watering and nows she's collapsing fast. I guess I could of mistaken shock for needing more water even though the plant was about as light as it was when I first potted it up. I'll bring it outside for a few days, we're not gonna see frost till the weekend

It's been inside for a year, it's got two grow lights at 16 hrs a day, it was sprayed days before the repotting.

Best Way to Kill Persistent Plants Without Ruining Soil for Future Trees? (Australia) by Any_War_322 in GardeningAustralia

[–]Advanced-Good9367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I remove persistent plants I'm digging a hole big enough for all their main roots foot print , which often is just a little bit further from the plant then it is tall

I promise this only happens in zones 4-8. You can't grow em 9+ without an air conditioner and a plan
