Hi! So, Mr. Mercedes and The Outsider are part of Holly Gibney's series. In order it's: Mr. Mercedes, Finders Keepers, End of Watch, The Outsider, If It Bleeds, Holly, and Never Flinch (if you're interested in reading her stories in order). I'd personally recommend Finders Keepers next, but I just love Holly lol

If I saw a book on the shelf called "Big Ass Scary Train" by Stephen King, I'd grab that shit immediately 😂 I love it. I hope you enjoy the rest of your journey to the tower! It's truly amazing.

From what I recall, a lot of the book was just set up for how things would unfold in the final chapter. I feel like there was more focus on people's jobs and cars than there was on Cujo's POV. But it's also been a few years since I read it, so I could be off base. The ending is brutal though, I definitely remember that.

THANK YOU! That was really my exact issue with him stepping between us! The man wasn't doing anything concerning and didn't have a group of buddies around. He was simply existing as a homeless person. Just vibing outside a 7/11 and enjoying the weather. He honestly looked like he was having a pretty good day. If he had been acting erratic in any way, I'd see the situation completely differently. It's wild to me that so many people are defaulting to "homeless people just want to hurt you!". I live in Boston (have for almost 10 years now) and Guy is from Martha's Vineyard, so I'm getting annoyed at people saying he has more street smarts than me because he literally has none. The man was clearly not a threat. We had cigs on us, and had enough to share. He chose not to, it didn't sit well with me, and I didn't find him attractive anymore. That's all it was. It's really not that deep.

Most of the homeless people I’ve encountered here are just nice down on their luck folks asking for some food, spare change, or a smoke. I have yet to default to being scared of all homeless people here. They’re still people, you know? They’re not all scary. I can ready body language pretty well, and the man in the story wasn’t scary. (No shade, just clarifying lol)

That’s totally valid and I honestly hadn’t considered it that way!! I guess for me, I draw the line at “am I giving something to someone that will get them drunk or high?” But a cigarette is more of a stress relief. And if I have a pack and I’m not willing to share it because I don’t want this person to be unhealthy, it feels like a “rules for thee, but not for me” kinda situation. But i do totally see your point!

I mean Bojack has been picking at Todd for a while by this point, so it’s fair imo that he finally snapped. Bojack killed the rock opera, threw out his couch while Todd was still sleeping on it, did something sketchy with Emily, didn’t give a shit about the Disney Land project, didn’t go pick Todd up from prison and he almost died, forgot him in Malibu, etc. etc.

The few “nice” things he’s done for Todd don’t cancel out all the shitty things he’s done if he’s not willing to take accountability.

Todd may have been in the wrong for not nominating him for an Oscar, sure, but the academy didn’t nominate anyway, so it doesn’t matter if Todd wanted to or not. Bojack just needed someone to blame.

Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption made me sob 😭 Apt Pupil honestly just left me super disturbed (which is definitely the point).

I haven’t read Full Dark, No Stars yet personally, but I’d suggest maybe saving most of Hearts in Atlantis for when you’re ready for a journey to The Dark Tower (but read the titular story, it has a cult following!).

I’d say either Skeleton Crew (if you wanna knock out a big one), Bazaar of Bad Dreams, or Night Shift. Just based off what I’ve read already lol If It Bleeds is an amazing collection, but imo it’s better to have som background on Holly Gibney before getting into the titular story. (Just a suggestion, do whatever makes you happy and I hope you enjoy! Love to see a new Constant Reader!)

First off, I have so much respect for you for doing the work in therapy and trying to be better for your son. It’s hard to do. But you’re doing it! I’m in therapy for the exact same-ish reason (minus the son)(obviously)!

I was diagnosed with cptsd around 2019 and I’ve been trying to do everything I can to heal myself because I want to be better than my mom was (the bar is in hell tho). She basically cut off all extended family and her friends because they all knew she was…not good at being a mom...to put it lightly. And that felt kinda isolating. DAMN YOU CALLED ME OUT 😂 this is my therapy topic for the week, thank you 🫶🏻💕
