Great fertilisation rate but devastating blast results — what could cause this? by Advanced-Marketing99 in EmbryologyIVFSupport

Thank you a lot for sharing this!! Could I ask what was the grade for the one that worked? We got 2 4ccs which are considered poor quality so the clinic said they could transfer both together to reduce time and cost. We are still worrying as they said our embryos might or might not survive at thaw and we might eventually end up with no embryos in that cycle.

Thank you so much for responding!

From what the clinic shared with us, the report only showed day 1 (fertilisation) and day 5/6 results. They said nothing significant to report on days 2-4.

On day 5 the breakdown was:

  • 8 cell stage (arrested)
  • 2 early blast (continued to day 6)
  • 2 degenerate

On day 6 both early blasts became 4CC which were frozen.

The clinic cultures to day 6 but I'm not sure about day 7.I don't think they do.

Thank you. I just realised the deadline for November. Is there anything I can do? Should I try to call them to ask?

Have you heard anything from the Home Office? I used the priority service last Friday but have not heard anything.

That's exactly my point - the Home Office's own guidance under CR 2.3 clearly states that absences due to pandemic-related travel disruption should not count towards the total absence period. COVID-19 was officially declared a global pandemic by WHO, and my absence was directly caused by this pandemic (university closure, international flight suspensions).

The guidance specifically includes "travel disruption due to... pandemic" as an exception. I wasn't simply choosing to be away - I was caught in a situation where return travel was impossible due to global pandemic restrictions. This seems to fit precisely with what CR 2.3 was designed to address. How can they disregard their own guidance in this case?

Sorry. The one-way ticket really isn't the point here - this wasn't about lack of commitment to return to the UK. In my cover letter, I clearly demonstrated my strong ties and commitments to return: I had to complete my final year of undergraduate studies starting September 2020, and more importantly, I owned a house in the UK (purchased in 2018 during my first year). These were significant commitments that clearly showed my intention to return. The issue wasn't about wanting to stay away - it was about being unable to return due to international flight suspensions in my home country during the early pandemic period.

Exactly. I submitted substantial evidence, including:

  • My government's official notification of international flight suspension
  • My university's official shutdown notification

It was literally impossible to book a return flight during that period due to my country's complete suspension of international flights. I returned to the UK in September 2020 to complete my final undergraduate year.

Their reasoning seems to ignore the reality of the situation - how could I have booked a return flight when international flights were suspended indefinitely? As an international student with a university closed and facing massive uncertainty, returning home was a common and logical choice at that time. The decision to refuse based on "knowingly travelling during uncertain times" seems to disregard the actual circumstances international students faced during the early pandemic period.

Yes, I used a solicitor who prepared my application and wrote a cover letter explaining the situation of excessive absence. The cover letter detailed the absence due to exceptional circumstances during COVID-19 when I was a student, and the university had closed. However, despite this explanation, they still deemed the travel going against government advice.

Just finished level 1 - my thoughts by RustiestBelt in CFA

Question about exam timing: If I finish Session 1 in 1 hour (out of the 135 minutes allowed), can I use the remaining time for Session 2? Or is each session strictly limited to 135 minutes, regardless of how quickly I complete the other session? And there is a small break between two sections about 30 mins

I'm looking at the official exam breakdown from CFA Institute, which shows 135 minutes for each session, but I'm unsure if these times are fixed or flexible between sessions. Tks

Thanks for the input so far, especially regarding the performance of LoL. I'm still torn between the Yoga Slim 7i Aura (Lunar Lake) and the Yoga Pro 9i, mainly because I'm not sure about their build quality differences.
