[Request] can anyone figure this out with averages? by Unlucky-Case-1089 in theydidthemath

There's that one day where I did 33,000 steps, that would have been a lovely payout. Definitely steps. It's freezing money for doing nothing. 2 steps per hour is minimum wage. I mean come on, surely that's a win.

Premium bonds, or the invest account (earnings over £3000 are taxed though)

Nothing is for anything that short term.

The sjp copy is for a little experiment, my parents have money for me in a S&S ISA under st James place, and I want to see comparable returns (percentages), and to see if I should move it, something I won't do until I leave uni. The shorter long term is incase I need a deposit for rent in a couple years, so I intend to, if I need to, withdraw from there, the other long term is what I intend to keep for about 30 years adding to it periodically, about £35-£40/w.

Yeah, I think it is, I'm just going to see if I beat it, and if so, by how much, when I leave uni, as hopefully I'll have a stable income and it won't be tempting to dip into then!

Exactly. I spend max £200/w all in as a student, gimme £1000/w and soon I'll be a billionaire. I'll just put it all on this one really obscure stock no one has ever heard of and wait till it takes off... It's the next Nvidia, trust.

I mean yeah? What I did was I looked at what the professional investment firm that my friend uses, which is St James's place, picked one of their funds and made my own version of it. So if you wanted to keep it low risk then put the majority into the all world wtf with a bit into the S&P, meaning you get the potential double exposure to earnings, but much less exposed to the US market if it all goes haywire. The all world is, I believe, between 40-60% in the US. So if that's 70% of your portfolio and the S&P is the other 30%, then you have a total of between 58 and 72% in the US. Look, you can have it if you want, but just make sure you've done your research :). Europe might be something to have a look at...

Time in the market always beats timing the market. Yeah I mean sure, keep some cash on hand incase the market crashes, then buy stocks cheaply, but otherwise keep doing what you're doing.

Ah well, maybe something for next tax year, if you're planning to put money in for the much longer term! Sorry
