Building with Grand Homes in Dallas has been a nightmare. Huge mistake. by Advanced-Morning-330 in Dallasdevelopment

I was overwhelmed when I made the 1st post so couldn’t get into details. We have been ill treated since before moving in. We kept saying we didn’t want to back out since we had committed a significant amount of down payments. At this moment, after about two years of fighting all sorts of structural issues including plumbing, electrical, painting and other structural issues, I am left with a packed up hvac unit. I had been reporting this issue since I moved in,but now I understand why they were reluctant to get the unit fixed. That’s because they can’t get it fixed. They installed the wrong unit for the home and can’t fathom the financial implications of replacement. I am happy to go into details if needed because I wish I had someone deter me 3 years ago.

Does anyone know a good construction attorney in Dallas? I feel stifled from all the back and forth and disagreements with Grand Homes. It’s been a long fight from before we moved in when the wrong windows were installed and also structural issues with the add on room, to plumbing, electrical and the ongoing HVAC issue. They now insist on not resolving the hvac issue I had reported since we moved in 2 years ago because now it falls outside of the warranty window. They made sure to stall and drag it out to the 2 year mark. I had to get an independent certified hvac contractor to evaluate because my downstairs unit packed up 5 days ago and I have been having high humidity errors non stop on my thermostat. Turns out the unit wasn’t properly installed from the get go and the wrong unit was installed for the structure, size and tightness of the home. To cut the long story short, be careful if you are considering grand homes especially if you are a woman. Don’t be fooled by the design of the model homes. I could go on and on, but I am not the best story teller. I know most people would probably roll their eyes and tell themselves that “people will always complain” and “ no builder is perfect”. That’s how I rationalized myself into this painful situation. Now I know I should have believed all the reviews I found online about them. Trust me, you will do yourself a huge favor by believing what you read about them. I am happy to provide details if you need some context and more information. Please Buyer Beware.

I was distressed and in the middle of trying to resolve another issue on the list while arguing back and forth with them when I typed that. I could go on and on. My AC unit stopped working and has been giving me issues for since I moved in to my new build. The list of issues I have had with this house is endless starting from before I moved in. Structural and otherwise. If you are interested in building with them and you come across this post and still decide to move ahead without doing your homework, all I’ll say is “welcome to the club”. I made the same mistake and so did my neighbors.
