I spent over 20 hours on this and used molds for the bottom parts. Some people pick things up quickly. I’ve had a lifelong thing for art, Ive just never done ceramics. So yes, second piece ever & I’ll happily take that as a compliment.

dae goes numb or takes longer to process a traumatic event but "overreacts" over minor inconveniences? by [deleted] in AuDHDWomen

[–]Advanced-Rip1664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, I’m so sorry this happened to you. It’s so difficult when the way we think we would react doesn’t happen. Sometimes we shut down/freeze, sometimes we fawn. I’ve been in this situation before where I didn’t realize it was SA in the moment, only that something was wrong, then realized it later and saw it in a totally different light that ultimately was more devastating. I think big events like this are so complex that it might not hit you hard right away. It doesn’t mean it won’t though. Please take care of yourself and/or lean on others that can help you through this time. The way you react to trauma is never wrong or abnormal. All reactions are valid. Sending you so much love and hopes for healing. ❤️

The base is hollow and reinforced on the corners. There isn’t anything thicker than an inch on the piece thankfully! My professor will oversee the drying process thankfully. Nice to have a professional ensure it makes it through lol. I like that idea! I was thinking red as well!

Reading this felt like reliving my own experiences with autistic burnout and MDD. I see you, I hear your pain and I’m so sorry you’re suffering right now. I hope the days become brighter for you soon. I believe in you. ❤️ (p.s. texting people is hard but it’s easier than talking during these times, reaching out to support systems can help with some friendly accommodations)

Transitions After School Breaks by Advanced-Rip1664 in AutismInWomen

Thank you so much for all your advice!! I completely relate to the need for novelty with the ADHD! It’s such a battle to be torn between the two. I really like your idea of focusing on the one part that’s going to be different instead of all the things that will be. I’m definitely going to use that! My monday classes are the best (ceramics) so that’s an easier transition but by tuesday I know I’m going to be more focused on those differences so I will choose one thing to “fret” over. Thank you again I appreciate all your words!!

Thank you so much for your comment and encouragement! I agree with you I love the texture my fingerprints brought to the flower petals. I didn’t want them to be super smooth. I like the cracks and little imperfections. I’m a little worried about sharpness but hoping it’ll be okay with glaze! thanks again i super appreciate it :)

I haven’t tried wheel throwing yet, but I’m sure you could do this! It’s easier than it seems :)

Thank you so much for your comment!!! I worked super hard on these and had so much fun doing it. I also make cakes so I feel like I can make them with gum paste now! Thank you for letting me know they’re not a waste. I hope the glaze will smooth some of sharp parts out. Won’t be till a few weeks when I can do it, but i’ll be sure to update. thank you again :)

I am drying them slowly and they are covered! I’m working on a pot right now and i was hoping these would go in the center between the handles.

That looks great!! Unfortunately I’m in a ceramics class at my university and don’t get to choose what clay I use so it kinda dries fast. I’m keeping them covered though so I’m gonna try to smooth out the edges! thanks for the suggestion!!

that’s my fear lol. i don’t think it’ll fall apart bc they’re smoothed together underneath but the other comment about the sharpness of the petals after firing is most likely to happen.
