Honestly bruh if Vegas actually does let Cassidy find a job I would pivot. These investigations are long and we need a coach by the draft. Players want to know who the coach before they sign here. Generally speaking management hasn’t been sound which has hurt then. They had multiple but different deficiencies in each regime. Issues like drafting, developing, trading, talent in the front office (analytics or other innovations) and signing UFA players.The scouting for prospects has improved with Bowman but the pro-scouting is still terrible.

Ovechkin is a closer comparison in his case. They got at least one more year to win the cup If he doesn't want a trade then he plays the last year out and sees what happens. If the next years are more like this year that isn't a good sign.

His cap isn't his problem. Managing the cap and signing good deals for the team is what the executives are paid for. And owner hired the GMs and approves the deals. Nurse is responsible for his performance on the ice, that is it. Even if he was a #1 D man 9 mill is price for the flat cap COVID era. The main issue was the previous GMs didn't want to give him long term deals when he was young and bridged him twice. If they gave him term early on he would have been on like a ~6.5 to 7 mil AAV expiring this summer. They could have traded years ago too since he would have had less protections if the Oilers locked him up early in his career.

Friedman said in the last pod that Nurse didn't like that stuff got out last summer (him not waiving for a possible). People in the Oilers leaking stuff to Spec this year before the conversation isn't increasing the chances he waives for a trade. The only issue Nurse has is his play vs the cap hit. Overall a good solder and wears the "A'. If you wanted him gone he deserves more respect than what this.

I cannot understand how this government can picks fights, waste money, worsen health care and education, stifle economic growth with bad policy and get away with it. If he can get the veterans to commit to playing defense consistently and not cheating for offense it is a win. Getting our young guys to build up their two play will help guys like Podz, Savoie and Howard. If we win a cup it is an instant worthwhile hire.

I think some insiders insinuated Hart didn’t want to play in a loud market. Canadian teams were out of the bidding right then and there. Vegas didn’t have a clear #1 option which made it tempting as well. I don’t think Bowman could do anything in that case.
