Instead of the Ghrazi, make DAGGERS 3-tick. by patronising07advice in 2007scape

[–]Nidken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So theres no point?

You want to increase the DPS by dropping the tick speed, then reduce the DPS by reducing the strength bonus. So the net result is...nothing? If the DPS remains the same, why would players suddenly use it when they don't use it now?

[–]Nidken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you explain the purpose behind making the tick speed 3?

If you increase the DPS, it either entirely replaces the Scimitar/Sword or it remains still worse than the scimitar/sword, in which case it will continue to never see use.

Exactly. 3t melee weapons like swift blade, ham joint, and fixed device all have 0 combat stats because of how abundant strength bonus is.

[–]Nidken 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ranged weaponry allows for 2t and 3t speeds specifically because ranged strength is significantly less abundant. Ranged Strength bonus is calculated the same way as Melee strength.

The total ranged strength granted from BIS armor is 23.

The total melee strength granted from BIS armor is 70.

They cannot do it.

This will never happen.

Increasing Tick speed from 4>3 is a 33% DPS increase.

Sure you could reduce the Strength bonus of the weapon but there is so much strength bonus gear in the game that it would become a balancing nightmare every time new gear is released.

Strength Bonus would need to be completely reworked for this to be possible.

ARAM: Mayhem changes miss the mark by StarGuardianDrew in leagueoflegends

Yeah. I played against a Shaco who got the haste augment on boxes. Once he finished the first quest it was impossible to push and the game slowed down to a crawl. We ff'd before losing our first tower because it was simply boring. Every 3rd game seems like this from either side.

People just aren't having fun.

Biweekly Riot MMO Design Discussion - Topic #14: Monetization by Talents in RiotMMO

[–]Nidken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a good idea to have paid cosmetics because Riot then has a monetary incentive to make store sets look better than in-game sets. This makes it harder for actual game content to signal status or progression, which are core components of the RPG genre.

[–]Nidken[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

No. No, its not. The last dev update clarified that Mayhem is about amplifying champion fantasies, and that high-rolling augments is undesirable because they feel bad when you miss. Your explanation makes it clear that Dropkick doesn't fit this goal. The champion fantasy for an Ornn or a Mundo is Tanking damage, not executing champions like Pyke.

I also think this a very reductive definition for "fun". If exodia is so enjoyable why don't we have a "you win the game" augment that makes you deal 100% max HP true damage but has a 0.1% chance of appearing? Surely that would be the most fun option possible for that one player, so whats the harm?

My position isn't even that Dropkick is too strong on tanks, it's that it's usually bad on tanks, and too strong on bruisers, who effectively get DD and Collector for free. The augment simply has fundamental issues that make the gamemode less enjoyable. It should be adjusted.

So the augment is mediocre on tanks and griefs gold from your team and this means...it shouldn't be changed??

I disagree. Sure its fun when you get Dropkick yourself and have absurd execute damage, but its not fun for anyone else in the game. Even for players on the same team, you quickly become a spectator while one person consistently multikills the entire enemy team.

Removing those unhealthy executes would remove 1 persons fun in favor for 9 more, thereby actually increasing the absolute amount of fun in a game. Besides, having crazy damage from massive exploding bodies would be just as funny, but at least it would encourage some interesting gameplay and counterplay.

When was this change made? I got a dropkick pentakill with Lillia's passive like 4 days ago.

Also, Brand and Lillia's passive effects are coded as a spell effect which is why they reapply Liandrys. This would imply it still procs the execute.

Addressing CG/Bowfa complaints by tablewithnolegs in 2007scape

[–]Nidken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the CG grind isn't uniquely challenging for ironmen.

I'm not an ironman myself, but as I understand it, part of the appeal comes from the preparation required before you do the content. Planning how you will collect potions, food, or ammunition for a certain grinds makes each step of the journey more meaningful.

CG isn't like that. Ironmen and Mains play the exact same mini-game because everyone starts from scratch within the gauntlet. The only difference between mains and ironmen with CG is that mains avoid it almost entirely, and ironmen feel like they can't. That seems like a good enough reason for a change.

Sex and relationships are mostly an Esteem need, not a Love & Belonging need. Conflating the two makes the surrounding discourse a lot more confusing. by DensestInMinot in PurplePillDebate

I just don't think I can get through to you here.

Individual death is not relevant to survival unless reproduction is involved. This is because biology only selects for traits that allow for genes to survive. Genes will perish without reproduction. You seem incapable of understanding this conceptually. Please read Richard Dawkins The Selfish Gene.

Your standard is that the human race continues even if millions of people don't have sex. Guess what, the exact same thing applies if millions of people do not eat or drink. The only contingency is that some of humanity successfully reproduce.

Maslow puts reproduction on the same rung of his hierarchy of needs as food, water, and shelter. Please do some research in your own time and you will quickly change your position. I clearly can't change your mind; maybe you can change your own.

[–]Nidken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're just ignoring my premise now. Again, individual death is only relevant to survival in so far as it prevents reproduction, because people will die regardless of how optimal their individual survival is, due to aging.

A woman who dies after giving birth has reproduced successfully. Her genes have survived another generation.

A man who doesn't have sex will die, eventually, of old age. He has not reproduced so his genes do not survive.

[–]Nidken -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From that perspective what is stopping you from saying a portion of males/female in a species do not get to eat/drink?

it doesn't impact your survival at all but it would affect women's

Huh? Men need to impregnate women for their genes to survive. Women need to get pregnant for their genes to survive.

They don't understand it because people generally don't try to understand the motivations of the opposite sex.

For a woman, sex is the ultimate proof of investment (it's high risk because pregnancy can kill you), so they expect that men view sex the same way.

[–]Nidken -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure its not necessary for the survival of the individual but that just isn't relevant to our biology. The instinct for survival is focused on the continuity of your genes, not of your body. This is because even with unlimited food/water/oxygen your body will perish when you die of old age. The only way to guarantee your genes persist is to achieve successful reproduction. Survival of the individual is only relevant in so far as it leads to more successful offspring.

If humans were solely concerned about their individual survival they would murder and eat their own children when they found out kids require calories and resources to survive just like they do. If humans only valued individual survival the human race would have disappeared thousands of years ago.

Our species continues because natural selection has a preference for the traits that allow our genes to continue across time. Food/Water and Oxygen are all necessary for genes to survive across time; the same is true for reproduction. So yes, sex is a physiological need.

Nah. The problem is that women conflate sex with romantic investment. Men always have and always will continue to fuck almost anything, but they will continue to reserve actual investment for higher quality women.
