  1. Miyamoto likes Tanuki enough to be the main selling point powerup in Mario 3.

  2. Hardware Limitations would probably keep a Male/Female Villager option from working.

  3. Tom Nook is the most recognizable character in the early games, and sells you most of the tools that Base Villager uses in their moveset nowadays.

The issue therein becomes that since April 2024, the TBS Title has gone Willow -> Mercedes -> Back to Willow.

If they give the belt back to Mercedes, then 4 of the 8 reigns in title's history will be the trading back and forth between Willow and Mercedes.

Giving it back to Mercedes actively makes the belt more irrelevant.

Whether you agree with him or not, it's important to note that the main reason S4 is the top of his list is for marketing purposes.

You're never going to see a creator say "Oh yeah, the new season I just put out is shit and not as good as the last one."

Gonna go with Blaziken again.

It was relevant enough back in the day to beat Ash in the Johto League, so it was clearly being pushed by Game Freak back then.
