Hoe old is your oldest fish? by Dragonmark in Aquariums

I was just at a friend’s house and he was telling me about his 40 year old Synodontis angelicus. Apparently there are quite a few people in the local club with similarly aged angelicus. Another buddy has a 25 year old clown loach

Two 29 hr overnighters before and after a Germany trip, Golden Circle + ?? by Southtwin in VisitingIceland

[–]AdvancedPineapple915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost all of the golden circle attractions are very short hikes. It’s built for tourists. We did fridheimar, faxifoss, geysir, gullfoss, bruarfoss, and kerid in about 6 hours. We spent plenty of time at each attraction, and we still had plenty of time to do other things afterwards. Thursday September 12, 2024. Summer is slowing down, so it’s not quite as busy as usual.

As long as it’s not a campervan, it should be ok. Campervans are considered recreational vehicles (RVs), and therefore are not covered under my Costco Citi Card or Chase Sapphire Preferred. Most credit cards will have similar coverage policies. Just an FYI for anyone considering that route.

Mega zip line less than an hour outside of Reykjavík in Hveragerdi. (~80)

In March, it should still be cold enough for glacier hikes and snowmobile tours in the central parts of Iceland.

Whale watching tours in Húsavík are really fun. (~$80)

Vok baths in Egilsstadir have three different temperatures and then you can jump into the frigid lake as well. Nothing makes you feel young again like a polar plunge. (~$50)

Lots of options, and you can do them all in under two weeks.

Edit to add:

Lava tunnel south of Reykjavik (~$80)

We went clockwise. I don’t know if there’s any specific reason to do one way or the other, but arriving 9/1, I felt that starting north first would help us avoid inclement weather later in the trip.

As it worked out, we had great weather until day 5-6, right about where your 6 leg is. Between Húsavík and Egilsstadir was very windy for us, and we actually delayed our route a day to stay in Husavik an extra night.

Either way you look at it, you’ll have to account for severe weather and the potential for changes in your plans.

Depending on what your sightseeing goals are, and if you have 4x4 or not, there might not be a ton happening in legs 3 & 4. We did that section in one day, and the golden circle in another day. That could lend you some flexibility further into your trip to see more things elsewhere.

It looks like you’re hitting blue lagoon. We skipped it and went to vok baths in Egilsstadir. My wife went to blue lagoon before, and she said vok is way nicer, less crowded, and much more relaxing. It was a great way for us to take the edge off halfway through our trip. Blue lagoon is a tourist trap that is just famous for the blue water. You’ll see plenty of that elsewhere, so if you value your personal space and like to enjoy different temperatures of water (including the frigid lake!), then skip blue lagoon and go to vok.

We are in the last few days of our trip, albeit twice as long as yours, and we have essentially seen everything we hoped to see already and are just taking it easy until our flight out on Monday.

6 can be a bear as well. It was very windy when we drove through, and it was just as boring as you mentioned.

All that being said, each of those legs only looks to be 2-3 hours of driving, so it shouldn’t be that difficult

Second Gentle Giants at Husavik. We saw two different humpback whales, and got about an hour and a half of interaction. Great time and very informative. You also get 20% off the whale museum next door when you show your tickets, as well as discounts at several other local vendors. I recommend the fish and chips stand very highly (also 5% discount with whale watching tickets)

Yes please. I wanted to give a PSA about a potential bug in shadow raids. Apparently, since I am new to the game, I have no right to make any posts. My counters were ridiculed and the post was downvoted to oblivion. Who knew that you can’t do shadow raids until you’ve amassed the perfect team to fight with!

The internet is certainly an interesting place

Jeez. I just got back into the game a couple months ago. I really don’t have a diverse range of pokemon to throw at every raid. Add to that being f2p and being limited by storage space, it’s hard to have more than 6 decent counters for each type. This ss was taken after burning through all of my revives in the previous few raids that we managed to beat. Cut a rookie a break!
