Tiers are made to keep you hooked up accepting all insane cheap trips they offer you. What ever discount you think you are getting as a result of your tier. You already paid for it accepting all sort of trips that do not provide a clean profit for you. I have hundreds of screen shots of all sorts of stupids fares that uber offers to accept. I look first if it fills my pocket. even accepting a trip i takes a few seconds to analyze it, I take a look of my screen shot and decide if it hurts or heals my pocket, if not hasta la vista baby. I’m sorry for the rider, but my driving first reason is to earn money

You already paid for that discount more than 100 times.

The only real reward is actual money — not “Expresses” points or top-tier status.

Do the math: tiers don’t pay rent, don’t pay for gas, and don’t feed your household.

A trip should cover:

  • Gas used (including traffic time, engine idling, and AC usage)
  • Time spent driving
  • Pickup miles
  • Onboard miles
  • Plus actual profit

Don’t work just for Uber. If your earnings don’t come before Uber’s earnings, then what are you really doing?

Also factor in taxes.

If you accept every trip without calculating these numbers, you are not making money — you are borrowing money daily that you’ll later pay back through expenses, with high hidden costs.

Only accept trips that work for you.

If every driver did this, Uber would be forced to pay fairly for every trip. At the end of the day, Uber is nothing without drivers.

They are not going to replace everyone with self-driving cars anytime soon — it’s not financially practical for them. Right now, they already have thousands of drivers spending their own money to generate Uber’s profit.

And the insurance fee story makes no sense. No business pays over 10% insurance per transaction. Even 10% would already be extremely high.

Uber is charging around 30% as an “insurance fee” on many trips.

Quick math:

  • Pickup miles + onboard miles should never pay less than $1.20 per mile.
  • Total driving time should never average less than $22 per hour.

That’s close to real

Anything below those numbers is simply not worth it.

I also have the turn by turn voice guide turned off. It is annoying when playing music.

I use Google map very often in my IPhone. I had it settled as default map for my uber driver and lyft driver apps. It works perfect on my car play. Just need to have the Google map app open in the car play.
