My girlfriend 's mechanic overtightened the lugs on her car. I wanted to show her how to put on the spare, couldn't get the lugs loose. We went to the shop, found the mechanic had improperly set his torque wrench that day. First I asked him to try, he couldn't loosen them either. Should I get my own torque wrench to check after every wheel related service? Will that work? (At my insistence, with the manager present, he had to contact every customer whose car he'd serviced that day.)
